The word from the "sponsored" desert bunch is they suck. (sidewall failures, punctured tread, etc) but that their sponsor package is awesome, lol. They are offering fat cash for anyone crossing the line in score races with them on. I think the baja crowd would race on slicks if someone paid them to. They are pretty though, and probably fine for 99% of offroaders out there. One of my KOH buddies said they suck goat balls in the rocks too, so we'll see how they evolve. BFG has been developing Projects for twenty years and they are still changing, I'm sure the Generals will get better with time.

Thats pretty funny. They do have a hell of a marketing campaign with BJ Baldwin and others rocking them. We run BFG Baja TA Projects on the shop race truck and have had only one flat in two races. They are solid. Maybe your right and over time and some R/D they will be up there with BFGs.

Just be prepared for possible worst gas mileage. On a friends race truck they went from 35" BFGs on 15" wheels to 35"general on the same 15" wheels and the general weighed about 50lbs more per tire. It kinda sounds like a lot, I didnt see the scale just going off what he told me.

I didn't add it all up, but that's gotta be a million+ bucks worth of contingency money just for one season. They really want to dethrone BFG. http://www.generaltire.com/garage/contingency.php

Is that enough incentive for race teams to use their products? A relatively small monetary prize Or am I misunderstanding it?

That's just what any joe racer gets for running their tires, if you are one of their full sponsored drivers like BJ you get a free ride. They don't call them Trophy trucks for nothing... If a broke guy like me were to race I could do the math on all the little contingency stuff available and squeek by just by running those products that offer prize money. There are a lot of companies that pay you to just run their decals too. It's not much alone, but it adds up.

Very true. We won enough Fiberwerx gift bucks to repair the damage we inflicted on the truck's fiberglass our first race with the truck.

There is no little to no money in racing/building these trucks. Oh how I have learned that over the past year.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel

    any idea why they're heavier?

thicker sidewall, bigger tread blocks, heavier plys, denser rubber compound?
