All true for an emulsion shock but the ones round here with the resis are mostly all charged with nitrogen to prevent cavitation which also gives a little bit of kick that extends the shock as a side effect. I think that may be a bit of the issue he's having

An emulsion shock is also charged with nitrogen.

Emulsion is a dispersion of a liquid that is not soluble in another liquid (salad dressing) but in the terminology for shocks we're talking about, it's mixing the nitrogen with the shock oil in the shock body instead of a floating piston separating the nitrogen and oil in the resi. Shocks need some sort of pressure to keep the natural state of the shaft at full extension (droop).

Did you ever measure what sway bar you are running in rear? And about how much weight do you have back there?

(I’m coming at this from a different angle in that I have 1K lbs extra on the truck, including a tall camper, and the rear seems to want to roll and pull the front. I’m not really wanting to re-install the front sway bar at this point if I don’t have to.)

Or over the rear axle, and even as a ratio to the front. Just trying to get a sense of how much weight that 1” sway bar is handling.

Maybe 500-600 lbs over the axle and sway bar arms and links factor in with regards to leverage

3rd gen conversion is officially complete! Got some bumpers to build and some frame work with a bunch of little things and it’s time for body/paint. Praying the rest of my shocks show up soon so I can cycle everything one last time.

If I had to guess, 89”. I’m ~85” and we have the same exact wheels but he went +4” and I went +2.25” for our LT kits.

Edit: as far as width measured from the outside of the tires goes. Idk about the fenders.

Yeah, it will sit 89-90”. Haven’t measured yet but my original factory width with these wheels and tires was right around 82”

    Is a 14" 550lb spring rate on a king 2.5 too light for a 2nd gen 4wd w/steel front bumper added?

Depends on the body - you talking about another regular cab - we're talking about regular length control arms yeah?

Unless you're running stock coilovers you'll want to be using at least a 16" spring and so with an extra cab is that a V6 too?

Yes, v6. The +2 kit came off a 2wd 6 lug. So putting any preload on the spring would make it ride terrible without a spring swap. Im only trying to achieve maybe 2-2.5 of lift on 285's. but if its going to ride like a brick on 550s I can change the rate before install.

What secondary hood latches are you guys running? Before I dropped off my truck at the shop my hood was shaking like a leaf. Making me nervous.
