Thought this was interesting, probably because I’m a newb and some of you have been in the game as long as I’ve been alive.

Leaf springs and bypass, air shock to comp for added weight.

See those once in awhile - not ideal if you're just trying to go fast, usually on do-it-all trucks that carry toys etc.

Ive seen this is tow applications where you want a built truck but also want to retain some towing capacity. Intuitive idea but not very common.

If that’s the case, I’m surprised the “influencers” and over landers aren’t all over it.

Seems how it’s all about 4 linking lately, here’s the next truck. I got the magnuson installed last week and then turned it around and started chopping shit out to make room for 4 links and 16” coilovers.

Hell yeah. Dual triangulated makes for a nice little driveshaft cage if you like rocks :boink:

The hard thing is there is quite a bit of custom work around this type of work. Along with setting up some of the geometry numbers based on the driver's driving style, preference and primary use.

In all reality, I probably could make some weld it frame plates with brackets attached so it's measure, prep and weld the frame plate in. But at that point, getting there, you're still doing most the work.

I've toyed with the idea of doing a youtube series on the various steps on the 4 link. That might be more useful for you cause I know you can run a mig gun.

Until you put a low pinion 9” axle under the truck and drive dumb…

For sure. It's on my radar for the future but I'm trying to finish up the current projects I already have in the works and would really like to actually enjoy the truck for a little before I open up such a science project.

I know there are calculators out there and lots of good info. Just haven't fallen down that hole yet. I'm closely watching what others are doing an taking notes on what would best suit my needs.

The trick is to give yourself unrealistic deadlines so you push to get the truck done super quick so it doesn't end up on jack stands for 6 months.

Typical SE rip rap wheeling. I hang the 8.8 up on the jeep and have got the DS a few times already. It'll happen.

I have a whole new attitude behind the wheel now that I have a daily driver :anonymous:. I’ve been blasting those trails on our land trying to find any weak points before venturing out to a park. It’s insane what this thing will soak up.

Quick PSA. I, like others I've seen here have damaged the outer CV wire retaining clip inside the CV. It can be hard to find these. I've heard that they are included in the OEM boot kit, but the kits I found only included the clip for the stub shaft in the differential and the tripod clip.

I couldn't find these anywhere available for purchase here state side, but I did find them for a very reasonable price across the pond. Package of 5 are about $5 plus shipping. Shipping can be as little as $11 USPS, or $30 for overnight from Fedex. Mine got caught up in clearing customs, but was delivered overnight once cleared. Much like the stock clips, you have beat the crap of them to seat. I pretty well had to body slam them to seat.

RSR30MM Round Snap Ring 30mm Nominal Shaft Diameter

Note: this is specific to Tacomas. FJ's have a larger shaft diameter and wire diameter. I have a couple extra tacoma clips if someone has a real emergency.
