So far I dont mind my 2", although I have it mounted outboard pretty far. 175psi, firm enough on the trails but could run a little more for the dunes, feels nice and "progressive".

How did you prep the surface? I like Steel It but feel it doesn't adhere all that well unless the surface is sand blasted. Agree on wearing a respirator! My insides hurt if I spray that stuff and don't wear one.

Am I weird then for just treating steel it like normal spray paint?
I sprayed like 6 cans to do my axel and was literally sitting Indian style the whole time

I spent a good amount of time sanding with 60 grit paper. Tried to do a cross hatch like pattern. Mix of that and my orbital sander also with 60 grit. That and making sure to spray the right amount and letting it dry correctly. Any scuffs on mine are due to messing with it when it wasn’t fully cured.

Yes. 20 bucks says that paint comes off during the next strong wind storm.

20 bucks says your lungs are going to turn to dust during the next heavy windstorm.

Edit. Actually this explains a lot. :hattip:

No kidding we had a random Tupperware for the MEK
And then those super thick kitchen gloves but the black ones for chemicals from HD

and 10 min into the job
    The gloves disintegrate

    In almost all 50 states
You have to have a business license to buy MEK, not typically available to joe shmoe

I had to look up MEK. First few results said it was banned in the US and thought oh this can’t be good.

But good news, it doesn’t cause cancer (unless you use it in CA).

Needs a bit more clearance on stuff to go higher. Upper links are a couple inches still from the cab. Hoping to jump back into working on this thing soon.

I foresee myself tubbing the back of the cab for link clearance when I do mine. Want to try and keep the trailing arms up a bit higher for crawling

I’ll be doing a little bit if I leave it at this wheelbase. Maybe minimal at the underside. Some for coilover clearqnce. I plan to cut the frame off behind the upper link area and build off from there.

I keep tossing the idea of going even shorter than this. Maybe 5 more inches off the wheelbase. But it puts the coilovers into the cab 100%.
