A crash is a crash? Your tacoma weighs a hell of a lot more than a nascar and carries a lot more energy with it. If youre cruising 80mph offroad in a 7000# truck vs 160mph in a 2500# car, does it really matter? The crash is still going to suck. I know people with miatas that run hans and helmets in their 90WHP car. Is there any form of professional racing nowadays that doesnt require a hans?

I’m truly shocked at your safety rant right now after you were going to slap that 4x death trap in your truck.

Hey man I understand principally why these things are good, I don’t understand the engineering part of it. I’ve already admitted that. Being safe isn’t a bad thing

Ever heard of “inertia” or “kinetic energy”?

In a 3 point your torso does have the ability to move forward and side to side. When that torso stops moving the energy of your entire 100lb upper body is transferred directly to your neck. That energy is considerably greater than if only your head moved.

With all of that said. Clearly a Hans and helmet are the best option. May as well add a fire suit too.

If you’d do a quick search on Google for a 3pt vs 4/5pt harness usage on the street, I’m not the only one with this opinion. I’m glad we agree on the Hans helmet thing. Fuck it. Bubble wrap yourself before off-roading. I’m actually going to make that a rule in my truck.

What’s the difference between street driving with a harness vs off-roading with a harness? Absolutely nothing. Google ain’t always “right”

I don’t think you should drive on the street with a harness, that’s my whole point

I'm surprised there isn't more of yall with half cages. Yea far from ideal but it'll at least give a little help to stop the truck from pancaking in roll over

Also, from an east coast pov where there's trees within 10 feet of nearly every road or trail, to me it would be a no brainer to be like 1000x more worried about a roll over accident for gofast offroading in a desert :notsure:
Could babble on about what's best in nuances and theoretic situations for quite a while... or you could plan for what's most likely to happen and leave it at that... which i would guess would be catching too much dirt or breaking something and ending in a rollover; or even on road for yall, with so much space it seems like you'd probably be more likely to swerve off the road than to hit or get hit directly from the front or back with enough force to snap your neck. Seems like an easy case for a simple cage and harnesses to me

My factory steering rack with 100k finally took a poop. Not leaking, just internal play in the rack. I'm not going Tundy or anything stupid since I went this far on it. Replacing with a factory rack, do I go reman or new? $500 difference is not in the cards for me right now. I just hope the reman will last at least 50k. The rack is a total bitch getting out of the truck esp with 4wd now.
