    It’s a new product, this is the first I’ve heard of it. I’m guessing no one is running it yet aside from the development truck, hence the lack of info and pics.

    Edit: I’m wrong as fuck, see below.

    It’s been out for almost 2yrs now and a handful of them have been sold. Most guys that purchase them have never heard of TacomaWorld. @RonRon23 is one of the few members on here that has the kit.

    The kit also runs the same trailing arms that we have been making for almost 20yrs now so nothing new there. The kit is a good starting point for anyone serious about 4linking their truck the right way. The down side is this will also require at least another $30k to set it up correctly.

    It’s just weird it’s been on their site for a little bit and never had any pictures of it yet, I feel like a short video or pictures to generate buzz like the wicked designs 3 link had would be the best idea.

    Well today I learned, color me surprised. Is it newish to the site at least? I feel like I would’ve noticed it before but I haven’t been on there in maybe 6 months, since I sold the truck.

    The way you described it is exactly how I thought of it when I mocked it up on my truck.

    It literally all locates like a bolt on kit. I started to mock it up but since moving almost a year ago I’ve not really done much. I’m hoping this new year will give me some more financial freedom to start working on it. Snowball build of course. It’s gutted, I’m going to cage it, shortening the wheelbase a bunch and shocks will basically be in the cab.

    I don’t have the mounting and carrier bearing pieces in my photos because I’m ditching the oem cross member, but that too would have fit right up to brace the two upper link mounts together. It’s a well thought out kit that takes all the guess work out of it. Unless you’re making it complicated like I am :anonymous:

    This is why I went leaf sprung… because I’m a peasant lol. No doubt, the links have crazy performance potential, but where does the other 30k go? 10k for axle… 6k for shocks, what else?

    Edit: I forgot about back half and fuel cell work. That’s a chunk.

    Back half assuming you won’t have the factory oem gas tank, new fuel cell, tying into a cab cage (the only way a ‘real’ linked truck should be), upper shock mounts, spare mount, fiberglass fender mount…. The list is endless

    Looks like a lot of stress on the C channel part of the frame. Could a boxed frame work or would you need to cut out a section of the box area to make it fit?

    You will definitely want to box the frame, cut the rear frame off and cage the truck if you are going to use the kit otherwise it doesn’t make sense.

    Have you had anybody set it up with the cross member brace and the angled supports from the upper links?

    Need some input.

    TLDR; I have the opportunity to get my first car (1997 4Runner 4wd limited) back for almost nothing. It's got about 300k miles, but was well maintained by my family until about 240k. Do I buy it back?

    ======================================
    Right now, my only vehicle is the LT taco (not a crazy caged build, but still I use it hard in the desert and it's getting to 120k miles and has needed a fair amount of maintenance in the last year or so. Not to mention: supercharger, 13mpg, and the quirks of driving a LT truck daily and the wear and tear that goes along with it...

    My current commute to work is about 110-140 miles every day depending on route. (SoCal, Orange County to Temecula) This will change eventually, but at soonest in a year or so, probably 18 months. Looked into getting an apartment or room out in IE, but everything that is close by is at least around 1k a month. About breaking even if I drove the truck every day.

    I do have a motorcycle, that is about 1/4 of the cost month to commute on, but it obviously isn't a viable option to do 5 days a week due to weather and general fatigue.

    I have the opportunity to by my first car back from a friend.

    Since then, it has definitely not seen the love it had before, but I believe is still mechanically sound. as a lot of stuff was replaced about 6yrs and 60k miles ago.
    Issues to consider:
    - Full fluid change
    * oil / filter engine
    * brake fluid
    * both diffs, xfer case
    * Power steering
    * Maybe coolant
    - Tires (4) new
    - (3) serpentine belts on the 3.4l
    - Friend states that the dash lights and rear tail running lights are out. This could be a simple fuse and or relay (quick google search) or a bigger wiring issue on a 26yr old car.

    I would do all the work myself, so in total, a full refresh would probably run in the ballpark of $400 + tires and alignment. Lets call it $1200. This is on the higher end, as I'd opt for budget highway tires and I already have about half the fluids on hand to do this.

    He offered to literally give me the vehicle back, but I'd want to give him something. Maybe a grand to help his new Contruction business startup.

    Looking at some math, my monthly expenses for commuting would probably remain similar, but possibly a little lower cost in the long run of a year or two. The main benefit is that my truck could become a weekend warrior and I wouldn't be driving the more expensive car to run, even if the weather was bad and/or the truck was broken from a weekend in ocotillo...
    My main concern is that I sink around $1k into this 4Runner, and then have more failures in the next 1-2 years that negate the benefit and cost. I don't want this to turn into another money pit. Finances aren't string tight, but I'm saving for a starter home in the Temecula Murietta area in the next 18 months, so I'm trying to live like I'm broke.

    For those who have been in similar shoes or are wiser and older than I, does this seem like a reasonable decision?

    $1-2k in on a old T4R in the hopes of easing minute financials in the long (1-2yr) run and stress of daily driving / weekend offroading an LT taco?

    Edit: I plan on looking at the car in person this Saturday; I haven't seen it in a few years.

    acquire the car, get it running without major problems and sell it for money to buy a newer commuter car. If you have a deal to not do that, ask him how much he wants so it doesn't matter if you flip it.

    It's all freeway w/ light traffic -- so it doesn't feel like it. Most days I take the 110 mi route, especially on the street bike. Twisty canyons for 40 of it!

    To be honest. To LA is the problem. Traffic not distance lol. I made that OC to LA for 6 years and hated it. Part of the reason I moved.

    Haha i’d rather do 100 miles than 26 miles in LA. My average moving speed is still like 65 miles an hour
