Yeah, its reasonable to suggest against a SUA in stock locations but if you were considering something that either flips the shackles or is running true outboard SUA I guess I’m surprised to hear that.

SUA is night and day difference with the amount of up travel you gain. I used to have 16"x2.5 tripple bypasses / bedcage with DMZ's sua and it out performed my TC 3.5"kit. Now I've got 14" smoothies tucked into the wheel well with the same sua setup with shorter limit straps and it still performs great.

If youre going SUA I wouldnt get a "bolt on" kit that utilizes the stock hanger locations, that's just my personal opinion though.

When I wheel I've bent the u bolts, and I also regularly drag the rear shackle hangers on rocks and have broken the center leaf pin.

I'm installing the JD SUA Kit with their Frame Brace Kit this weekend.. the frame braces are insanely built..

Im everywhere from Desert to the Rocks and looking forward to the performance and comfort that will be gained from a SUA Kit.

The argument from supposidly a Suspension Performance Company's that are against a SUA for your stated intended goals is initself intriguing.

Would their frame brace replace the need for frame box kit? (Dmz or dirtking frame box kit)

Sua will blow soa out of the water all day long for desert driving. The only reason not to do it is if all you do is rock crawl and don't wanna get hung up on the Leafs, but even then, I still preferred my Sua for everything else and only got stuck on the Leafs a few times.

My opinion is to get the JDFab Frame Brace kit and the SUA kit. The Brace Kit will remedy a huge portion of the weak and poorly designed back half area. Im betting that any other frame box kit currently on the market won't come close to what the JDFabs kit will correctly address.

I’m of the impression the “boat anchor” hangers may be a better design.

As much as I’ve enjoyed my JD SUA there are some things I don’t care for.

The shock motion ratio is a little wonky and doesn’t carry true through the range of travel. This makes tuning really difficult.

At least my wheel base got shortened. Not sure why. I will be moving my forward hanger rearward about an inch to counter this as well as standing the shock more vertical.

But the part that really bugs me is the amount of wrap/anti squat induced with a shackle oriented as such. Under hard acceleration my rear rises a literal ton. Boat anchor style would induce squat.

Again. I have really enjoyed this kit and it is night and day over SOA. And I can see the frame brace being a big deal even though I don’t have it.

Just put your research in to see what suites your needs the best.

It’s a 100% new frame and fully boxed so that was probably accidentally addressed, i’d be willing to bet there are still some penetrations that will prove to be rusts spots over time unless Dana finally got their shit together with coatings…

Does anyone know what kind of bedsides these are? They appear to use a round tail light. Found em on my local classifieds. Don't have any other pictures at the moment.

I meant more of the random plugs covering like the body mount and such that they appear to have added. And likely a bunch of plugs covering all the boxed frame holes or something like they did for later 2nd gens.

I do wonder who is making the frames for the 4th gens. I’d assume still Metalsa who took over the manufacturing after all the Dana snafu but nothing really seemed to change with that swap in owners.

I have the JD braces and DMZ boxing kit. Huge difference in the rear. However I do run the GFC with a house battery and solar. Adds 300# to the rear.
As @906taco said. I do have a bit of anti squat. Which is fine for me it seems. Getting on the gas decent and shifting fast I feel the rear rise. But not a ton. Just something you’ll feel.

Weight in the rear likely keeps your anti squat at bay a little. My truck is intense. To the point I’m not sure what would happen if I launched it on blacktop. It’s not so drastic in the dirt as it breaks traction easier.

Probably some good info on formulas on old drag racing forums.
I remember back in the day. You wanted squat to a point but also enough front travel to rise but hold. To keep traction.
I’m sure the same formula would apply for off road. It’s just getting it and imputing all the right data to get a result.
Just a hypothesis from when I used to drag race.

Both AccuTune and Eric at Archive are super active on TW, you could probably mention them here if you wanted wanted a better explanation. My experience with both of those shops is really positive so I’m curious on their logic but I won’t start a shit fight by tagging them since I’m already SUA ;)

Anti squat is actually a good thing for traction to an extent as it’s pushing the tire into the ground. However, too much isn’t good either.

Sorry but if they actually use the words “SUA is overrated “ when compared to SOA they are idiots.
