Well, the outer race is what pivots around the ball lol. The ball never moves once torqued down. The race just pivots around it.

How much does a LT kit help clearance tires? I understand the whole scrub radius thing is different etc. mostly wondering if you can get away with 37s with less or no tubbing at all

    Short answer: no

Longer answer: you could probably technically have a LT front end made that pushed the tires far enough forward and outward to not impact at full bump, but I don’t think it exists and it would compromise so many other aspects of the truck that it wouldn’t be worth it.

    Answer I was looking for!
I was looking at ko2 37s since they size super small (more like a 35). Maybe easier to fit??

Nope, unless you bump way early and try to not go past one full turn on steering...

But clearance it out, @snowsk8air2 tucks big tires.

    The ko2 37 is closer to a 37. The ko2 35 is like 34.9. It’s not far off. certainly not 2” off.

my BTF kit pushes my wheel forward a little bit, and have a CMR. No firewall tubbing at all, but I have JD fab inner fenders, and no rubbing lock to lock at full bump. When 454 was going the install, we looked at clearancing for 37’s, and it involved tubbing like 3-4” into the firewall to make sure it cleared at full lock to lock at full bump. It’s a lot of work. If all you do Is go fast off road, and don’t really do any rock crawling I don’t see the point of going up to 37’s. Then again, I don’t really know what I’m talking about, I’m probably just ignorant per usual. There’s probably a good reason to do 37’s, I just don’t know that it’s worth all the pain and brain damage to not only make them fit, but also wear on wheel bearings, steering, and other mechanical components.

This is where I got the "true" size of a 37 ko2.
Yeah I can see how 37s has a huge impact on everything.

I'm assuming you got 35s? How do those clear at full bump with the jd kit?

Inflation also has something to do with this too.

Yeah I have 35’s. They clear great. No rubbing at all.

What would be the point of doing a 37 that sizes like a 35? Just a bigger number on the sidewall?

LT only helps clear tires for turning, but it makes it harder at full bump because the tire will tuck up higher.

Moving the tire forward helps to a point, but it also makes you hit the front corner of the wheel well pretty bad under the battery/washer fluid res.

Here's what I had to do to clear 37s at full tuck and turn with 2.25lt and the JD lower pivot kit.

Make sure you get a new cooler if your fluid was effed too.
