They do. But these mickeys run pretty true. And my 315’s weren’t far off from 35 new. So perspective… Big Big difference

Kinda like some suspension companies. 17 actually means 15 and so on.

One thing I want to elaborate on as well. I put a used OEM shaft in the truck (again) and this is how much plunge is left at full droop, unstrapped. Pretty surprised actually. Shouldn’t need to be shortened at all.

looks like im taking my driveshaft off the rear diff and re-check droop.. As it is now my straps are some what loose and I cant move the axle down anymore. I am really hoping im not bottom on my slip yoke.

on another note, anyone with a 2nd gen LT front and a shock a tower crossbar and a magnusen supercharger?
I am about to have a SC installed and have a crossbar and curious how others did theirs to clear the SC.

I got the SC , coil bucket gussets, and a 2nd bypass hoop — but no cross bar. I don’t know of too many people who run them.
The SC does sit a bit higher than the regular intake. You’ll probably have to Feb up a new cross bar that’s slightly higher up once you get the SC in there.

Full droop is definitely where the most plunge will be. Make sure it pulls at full droop with some room to spare

I am still waiting on 35s
So this is a stupid question

But do I bring my whole truck into a shop and have them shorten my driveshaft? Or do I take my driveshaft off and bring it to them?

I'm slow when it comes to drivetrain and everything so bare with me

I have a local shop that shortens them. Just figure out how much, bring them the shaft and they will do what you tell them.

Ideally you would give them the measurement from the center of the ujoint after the carrier bearing to the front face of the pinion flange at full droop and full stuff. Then they make a shaft and slip yoke from those dimensions.

The weight of the truck on the tire squishes it a solid inch or two at least, so not really a fair comparison.

But yeah tire sizes are typically whacky

I’m just ignorant and retarded. Should’ve realized that lmao

To be fair, I didn’t know the difference between a bypass shock and a bump stop 2 years ago.

Mainly because I’ve been posting things I’m doing/want to be doing, and then being told what I’m doing is stupid or could be done better, then do said things the way I was advised and ending up with a half decent truck. If it weren’t for people more knowledgeable than I, I wouldn’t have reinforced pivots, no steering slide rack, no upper arm gussets, no jd inner fenders, no 4L80E, no engine mounts, and no knowledge on any of this shit lol.

if you scroll up far enough on this thread you’ll probably see @906taco calling me stupid for not reinforcing my steering at all, and then see @tacotunner06 helping me figure out my LS swap issues, and then find @WormSquirts helping me figure out transmission coolers, and @Dm93 wiring my entire truck for me via TW. There’s been a lot of others that have helped too that I don’t know the exact @ of.

    Pretty cool people on here.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
for anyone doing 3 or 4 link coilover math to get your spring weights and shock mounting locations for your desired ride height, this is the rough corner weight of a 2nd gen doublecab short bed with no bed and no fuel tank and average weight 35s. custom rear bumper weights about the same as a factory rear bumper and hitch. i don't know what the rear frame section weighs, but I'll get that number once i chop it off. i'll also be weighing all of the unsprung items separately once they're removed. i would imagine the weights i get are going to be pretty similar across the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gens, with the exception of the leaf springs likely weighing more than the coils/links on the 4th gens. hope this helps someone at some point...
