    Yeah I was thinking that, too. I don’t see any downsides in keeping the center of the cab nice and snug.

    haha when I ran it out I got 14.5 in it total.

    It hasn’t gotten a hole in it yet with just the oem skid so I don’t consider it an issue. I keep jb weld incase it has a bad day.

    I would be curious to see if there were issues opening doors or anything else while articulated.

    I can see some of the ideology behind that being a possible crumple zone. However I can also see it allowing for more flexing of the frame. But for what we do, I only see benefit to snugging it up.

    That’s a good point. Didn’t think about frame flex when fully articulated. Will be something to check when it’s back on its feet.

    How are you all sliding replacement boots onto the shaft for your 934s? I’ve tried all manner of sockets but I’m reaching the max elasticity of the rubber. The OD of the axle is double the ID of the replacement boot. Ordered these straight off of JD fab’s website.

    Edit: also OEM outer boots are supposed to be rubber right? These OE boots are plastic? This whole experience is really racking my brain.

    Check out Drew’s Fab and Mitchmade for cencal. Not much in NorCal. @Basikbiker may know other reputable shops in your area. Terra Crew’s editor just had one installed in his tundra. Not sure what it cost as it was a friend of his and his friend preps top of the line race vehicles for a living, cool to see though.

    In SoCal, Michael Cox’s Factory BS shop and KDM (production welded for LSK before going on his own) are really good. You could at least ask them for quotes but I’d imagine $5-7k.

    Welp after much trial and error across 4 hours (and not to mention the assistance of a 20mm shell casing), I finally got the bloody inner 934 boot on. Gonna research and possibly buy a boot expanding tool for the next one.

    yeah i think it was on a agm video where they were talking about cv maintenance they mentioned using a cut off end of a funnel to slide the boots on so i tried it and with grease it works pretty well. as far as the factory plastic that was a pita....

    Mostly the 3 seats lol. That and I didn't make the cage out of 2", which I do regret at this point. It's all 1.75" x .120 dom. I'm sure my truck will be over the weight limit for racing a 1.75" cage unfortunately.

    It should be pretty well balanced though. Engine will be behind the front axle with the winch just in front of the front diff, and the fuel cell and water tank will be in front of the rear axle, then storage for camping gear, recovery gear and the spare will be behind the rear axle.

    Use all 1.75 but proper wall thickness. You should 100% be able to keep that in the weight range for a 1.75” chassis.

    My truck has 4 different wall thicknesses of 1.75 and 2 different thicknesses of 1.5.

    Have a DK axle question for you guys. My travel numbers are very limited compared to most of the rigs on here. Replacing an inner boot soon. Is the epoxy DK uses to seal the boots a critical step? Recommended Permatex 84107 is not available for at least a week. Ordered it, but my work schedule puts me outta town when it arrives. Anyone have experience or thoughts? Maybe a decent substitute? Thanks.

    Awesome work by @906taco welding up new spindle gussets, coil bucket gussets, and installing new uniballs in all the control arms, as well as installing those hydro bumps up front. He also powder coated the arms and they look great. Don’t mind my crusty-ass coilover making everything ugly lol

    I used some 1.5 in a couple spots, like the intrusion bars. Curious if you'd be willing to share where and what thickness you used. I was going to do the floor structure out of thinner wall 1.5" tube, but make the structure below the drivetrain that the skid mounts to out of .120.

    I'm guessing the back wall and center harness wall could all be thinner like .095? I was going to also do the back half structure from the back wall to the axle out of .120, but from there back, go to something thinner as it's not really structural anymore. I hadn't thought about tube thickness for the engine cage yet.

    Would love some insights to keep the weight down on this thing

    My whole outer main structure is 1.75x.120. Then I used a mix of .095, .083 and even some .063. It’s all going to come down to design that will dictate what you use where. Provided the main structure is .120 you can get away with some pretty thin stuff elsewhere.

    Every single step of the way, you need to be focused on weight. Save it anywhere and everywhere. Ounces add up to pounds really quick.
