Seeing daylight for the first time in months. Hosed her off and pushed back in for paint and final assembly. Missing the supercharger whine and hope temps are still cold by the time I'm hooning again

Going to fix the front bumper now that I have bender and tons of extra tube. Also going to fix the super non-symetrical bumper skid plates lol

Pretty much all ford trucks are dual pins. I have yet to ever see a failure with them. Pure brilliance. And actually adds a level of stability due to less ability to twist around.

Dang ya that's sweet. I wonder if a company like Alcan or deaver would be able to make one of those to order for a taco and then just weld on a different perch.

couldn’t you just drill a second hole thru your leafs? And all the mounts and everything else obviously…

I always end up grinding the head of a grade 8 bolt to fit in the perch hole. Way stronger than whatever material they come with usually. Haven't had one of those fail. Dual pins is smart though. Seems like an easy mod with a drill

I don’t believe it’s the pin failing. Rather the perch it’s self. If there’s any form of slop things are going to move. And obviously at that point things get egged out. My old perches were both opened up like an old whore. I think that is what caused the pins to fail. I’ll know soon if my press fit idea solved it.

Dual pins would just add an extra level of strength and stability.

Agreed, 100% it's the perch. If you look at the head of the pin in this photo again, you'll see the sloped dent essentially. The springs did not separate from the perch to cause that. The perch is just regular old mild steel, so it deformed and that angle wore into it. Shy of hardened perches, there's not much to do on the issue side, so dual pins to half the forces applied to the soft perch is a good bet.

When i grind the head down, i make it nice and tight in the perch. But even if using a gr8 bolt as a pin is just a bandaid, it's still been effective in my experience

For you sua guys, what's your axle to frame height? Mine is 11" 3/8 with a couple hundred pounds in the back. Seems a bit to tall IMO

Does anybody on here need full adv +4 glass front and back for a second gen long bed?

I have a brand new set that I won't be installing. I'll be headed to hammers in a few weeks and can bring it down to SD area or meet at Koh.

You removed a bunch of weight by ditching the bed. And you have fresh new packs. It needs more weight and time. It should settle at least 2” from the height you’re at.

Thank you! It's my brother's truck that he just uses for towing. Just a shop we split with some buddies since we moved away for college
