Got a welder outlet put in my garage. Time to bumblefuck my way around a tig torch

 

Cannot wait to see this thing back on the road. Every day looking and pictures getting excited

 

I have the air lumbar and heating/cooling n mine. Theeeeeee best

I’d love to hear what you did for cooling! Nothing better than a nice cold seat on a hot day

 

I don’t know if the current seats are still made this way but my originals came with a “memory foam option” that had a metric shit ton of perforations in the butt and back
When I had the carpeting out of the taco I just used some of the accessory AC tubing with some oversized heat shrink to secure a hose from my floor vent under the dash to the back and butt via a split
So it blows when the air is on
And then I just have the heater pads as PRP sold them

ideally I will do something similar in the Chevy when I get all my parts back in my possession

 

i thought i remember reading that prp offered some kind of cooling feature on certain seats but i can't really remember which ones now or where i had seen it.

Heat/cooling is a $600 option for Enduro seats

 

dang its a $445 upgrade from just heated....

 

I would have gladly paid that if cooling was offered in the podiums. Considering rerouting the vents under the front seats to make some ball chillers. Rear passengers can deal with the swamp ass.

 

Just get a set of Muffin Fans and wire em to a switch.

 

But if I plumb to the under seat vent, I get chilled air. Or I guess ball warmers for the week of winter we get every year.

 

get you some flexible dryer duct and plumb the vents to the muffin fans

 

What thickness of metal would you guys recommend to plate this part of the cab for a tube inner fender?

was gonna say they say they used 1/8 though in that application i don't believe your gonna gain anything from chromoly plate vs mild

 

You're going to gain more from a solid welding procedure than you will from a thicker or stronger material. Cracking/tearing at the weld is your biggest concern, just like with the stock inner fenders.

-make sure your fitup is nice and tight, and clamped well
-preheat the pieces
-short welds, hopping around on the piece. Normally this is done to minimize warping. You really don't have to worry about that, but what you want to do is minimize the total amount of heat put into it.
-slow the cooling of the pieces post weld as much as possible.

 

that and tying into multiple planes will help tons as well

 

Would you recommend doing a cross brace from each inner fender?

 

it's not a Honda Civic...if you tie your inner fenders together with a cross brace you will rip them off the truck the first time you hit dirt. the frame has a crazy amount of torsional flex
