Speaking on tire straps, does anyone make a good y strap for horizontal spares that will hold two tires stacked?
I can’t find ones that seem long enough for two 35”s stacked on top.

I have one that I was using before I made this tire rack. Y strap made by speedstrap. Paid $100 bucks for it. Make an offer and it’s yours. Bought it on January 1 this year.

Just out curiosity why do a Y-strap vs two straight straps crossing each other?

Macs and Speer strap both have options. My Mac’s strap holds my dual 37’s no problem.

I had the sdhq one and it fit 2 38" stacked. Ratchet quality itself was so shit tho

Dang I know I'm like 10 minutes from you too.
Thats pretty much the exact placement I was thinking too. Good to know it works.

Two straight straps with an X will probably slip, pls it's another 2 holes I'd have to probably drill in the bed.
I already have a hole for the front point in Airdogs post above in the front. Just use the bed stiffeners to hold the rear Y.
    Also, less strap to undo.
I hate stuff that takes inefficient time. Tent poles for example.
An X could possibly also slip, the Y won't change where it's holding the tire(s) down I'd think. They can't really move around.

    Good to know!
I looked at both of these I think -- but thought the lengths would not be long enough.

I have a PRP Y strap and the ratchet quality is not the greatest, binds up and hard to use. I have old ass ratchet straps that lived out side their whole life near ocean and work fine. Keep in mind my truck is garaged too.

I was looking to get the prp y strap. Just to match with all the other prp shit I have. After hearing that I'm kind of hesitant

Second what @906taco said. The frame braces are really extra, maybe unless you're jumping it a lot and doing gnarly shit. Money's better spent on good shocks and valving. I love my DRT relo kit, and install was fairly simple. Archive is the same I'm sure, but my installer just works closer with DRT. I wouldn't worry too much about the extra weight- you and I both have ~400lbs, but thats not a ton in the grand scheme. Enough to justify keeping SOA but nothing like the folks with full ALUCABs and stuff in the bed.

You said you skipped the crossbar for spare tire- makes sense, however just figured I'd share- the crossbar is awesome. Hammer hangers help, but my truck feels more stable with the crossbar/hangers combo (but no sway bar) than it felt totally stock, no lift, w/ sway bar. For weight and stability, it's definitely a great bolt-on option, if you can find a good way to store the spare otherwise.

In sum, you'd be well off with a well set-up SOA, but the JD kit might be overkill. Or if you've got $$ like that, link it!!! Crossbar rocks too, if you want.

Another alternative if you don't need a tire hanging off the back... HMF Utiligate it helps keep the bed sides straight as well.

I think that's the convulsion I have came too. Just gonna roll with a shock relocation and stay SOA for now, something different later on if this wasn't enough. Sounds like I need to give the cross bar / something similar a try. thank you so much for the feedback! Now onto the shock relocation kit research. Thanks again!
