Well both I was looking at c/o/bypass/bumps. Is the valving set up differently on a 3.0 vs 2.5. I'd hate to get a 3.0 and it be too stiff because my truck is too light for it.

That's all Valving & Coil Spring rating not the size of the shock.

Most people (from what I've seen) run a 2.5 or 2.0 (More coil options with 2.0) with a 3.0 Bypass since it contains most of the Valving.

Right awesome that's what I was wondering. I didn't know if the 3.0 was limited to certain valving or springs or what not.

I'm running 3.0's with 2.5" bumps on my spring under setup. The single 3.0 in the rear far outperforms the dual 2.5's in the front. Even after a hard Barstow to Vegas run they are barely warm to the touch, 2.5's were melting stickers off. I pulled the 3.0's apart after 30,000 miles thinking they must need a rebuild, but everything still looked new. The 2.5's in the front were worn the fuck out (wear bands, oil smelled burnt). I say go with the biggest shocks you can afford. Sure, a single 2.0 coilover could be tuned to provide the same damping force as a 3.0, but how hot would it get and how long would it last?

yessir. Icon 2.5 coilover with 2.5 king bypass up front. Obviosly 3.0" X 18" stroke radflo's have a lot more oil volume, I think that is what saves them.

Makes sense. More fluid more cooling. Will 3.0"s bolt up and clear in the front? Or do you think you would have to relocate some mounts on the arms and frame?

Have you noticed any conflictions from the Digressive Valving of the Icon C/O's vs the progressive Valving of the King bypasses?!

No, I didn't mess with the valving on the coilover. Icon said I should pull almost all the shims out of the coilover and just run it as a spring carrier and to let the bypass do all the work, but they don't know how I drive. Even two 2.5's are overworked.

Yeah that's what I've been told too so I was curious. Obviously your truck gets ran harder in the desert than the avg. Tacoma

Your rear shocks are mounted between the frame rails, right? I'm running 3" 4-tube bypasses outside the frame and clearance is a nightmare. My current wheel spacers are stupidly wide and the new axle I have on order has a WMS-to-WMS distance of 73" to clear everything.

3" spacers and I still rub when the suspension articulates. I'm running pretty wide tires, but still. Makes it look like my truck was designed by Harry's House of Can't Measure.

oh wow... those are crazy big. my rear tires rub slightly on my bump cans are FULL bump. been kind of hesitant to upgrade to a larger wheel spacer (currently running 1.5) and have been thinking about getting new wheels with less BS

but new spacers are a hell of a lot less $$$ than 6 new wheels

It clears the frame fine. The tire rubs when things get really flexy.

To bring things in I'd basically have to have the shocks run through the center of the frame. Those shocks are just massive.

    Here's a pic of a mangled 2" WE coilover, 2.5" 8" travel bypass, and the 3.0" 18" travel bypass.
