What's got you thinking of a change? Is it something specific about the truck, tired of working on it, or just want a change?

Im just tired of messing with it. Its funny that it happened after I got done with all the work and I no longer have to mess with it.

Maybe I will take it out for the March race to get out of the funk.

Whoa dang you are only 27. I was thinking midlife crisis, go for it man. I haven't seen anyone getting the price they want for. A few of my buddies switched to cars, but I have my truck paid off so it can sit while I build on it. Thank God you are at least sticking with a truck. Put an autotrader up of your taco and see if you will get the price you want for it. That new Ford Raptor is sitting in the lot with a 50K tag for you.

Ok so some things got me thinking.

When companies like Camburg, TC and Engage develop and long travel system then go to Fox, King or Icon and ask them to specifically tune shocks for their application:

Do they tune the shocks for a specific unsprung weight?
How many of you guys have tuned your front coil-overs differently to counter the unsprung weight?
If you have retuned your shocks have you significantly felt the benefits from doing so?

Am I an idiot with too much time on my hands? It seems like everyone with a LT is running much much heavier tires (obviously due to size) and wheels that weigh more than stock so I am curious how these companies can tune a specific system to satisfy a wide variety of customers with many different applications.

Once you go LT you get 10 times the problems because you think you can be 10 times more stupid with it. Get a dirt bike or better yet get a built Yota or 5 lug and DD your current Taco. Trust me there is still work to be done if you buy a built truck.

I know what you mean. I have been feeling the same way about mine for a few months. I spend more time fixing stuff then actually taking it out. I think in the last 6 month I have taken it out like 4 times.

I'm going to keep mine but If someone made the right offer I'd most likely sell it and buy an fj or another taco and pretty much leave it alone.

I can let you know later. I left a message for the guy at KING that does all the shocks for Total Chaos asking him about tuning mine to my application.

Well my buddies and I valve our own shocks. We start out with a standard valving like 8's in the rebound and 10's for compression for our Taco. We go out to the desert and hit a nice section and change out shims until we can get the truck to float over what we want. I know, Fox and a few others set aside a tuning days out in the desert and help you tune your suspension. It's pretty easy to revalve your own shocks with some patience.

    Ya let me know!

Thats really cool! Ya I figured it ended up being the end user's responsibility to do the fine tuning and the companies just give out the tools necessary!
