hey guys. seems like i alway come to yall for questions. last time it was limit straps (thanks again), and now it's frame bracing and reinforcements. I'm going to make some frame reinforcement plates for the rear section. essentially between the leaf springs or maybe a little wider. for whoever's done that already, what thickness steel did you use?

and for something a little different, i need your opinions. i don't want to fully box the frame, but i'd like to "support" it. i made a quick rendering in paint of what i had in mind.
picture this as looking down the length of the frame obviously.
    any thoughts? positive or negative
    [IMG]

reason i want to do this, is because i've already had an instance where i could have used a brace like this. look at where the hose meets the resi and you'll see where the frame actually bent. it's the lump that actually comes up and blocks bart of the yellow air hose.

My frame in the rear looks like that too :pout:

I dont see why your idea wouldnt work I would just put those make the vertical bars something like 1 bar in the middle of the frame and then 1 as close to the inside open edge

Ok so while I was at SDHQ I talked myself into the adjustable limit strap clevis. Camburg's is a fixed mount so I wanted the adjustable ones. They don't come with the "sleeve" for it though. Where do you guys in AZ get your metal? I need to get a 1/2" i.d. tube to use for mounting the clevis. Part I need circled below

you got me. i've owned the truck since day one and it's never been in a wreck, so i have to assume it was off road. it's been like that for a couple years and i tow a 6500lb boat fully loaded once a week the entire summer, and it hasn't gotten any worse. so the frams is still structureally fine, i just can't immagine how i did that without breaking my spine.

I'm using 3/16" plating with boxing my frame. You could use that or 1/8"

thanks, i'll check out prices the next time i'm at the steel supplier and see if there's a big difference to get the extra 1/16''. my welder will do 1/4, so 3/16 is completely doable.
