yeah, i can do mine with some cardboard, a sharpie and some power tools, but i figure if i can get a good price from the guys i know with the high dollar tools, that would be the way to go for larger scale production.

and yeah, i figure if someone is buying a plate they have to weld on, they probably also have a grinder....i'm gonna have to bend mine before i put it on because of where my frame is bent.

Tacoma with some stuff melted to it

Score says "but must be bolted through and attached by the use of doubler plates (one on either side) with a minimum thickness of .187”, see Figure 4. Where bolt and nuts are used the bolts shall be at least .375” diameter SAE Grade 8 or equivalent."

So they are saying 3/16" plate w/ 3/8" bolts if your tying in a cage. Since I wont have a cage for awhile I am thinking to do 1/4" plates and 1/2" bolts

Sweet thanks for the info. I'm not going to score tag my truck, but 3/16" sounds like a good size to go with for my truck.

    Tostidos.

If you havent already get on RDC and look at different cages from the top shops. Decide what you like/dont like and incorporate these ideas into your build.

What tubing diameter are you going with? 1 3/4 .120 wall DOM or 2"? Maybe your going chromoly? Make sure your knowledgeable enough to be able to answer the questions they ask you about Your truck.

I am going to go with the 2" if there isnt any clearance issues around. and havent decided on the material yet in the process of doing research on that.

Smart man on going with 2". You read the SCORE rule book. 4000lbs and under = 1.75x.120 wall. Its not worth paying good money for a cage unless its race legal.

I recently weighed my truck and came out to 5280 lbs with me, tools, spares, and a full tank of gas. When/if I ever cage it it has to be 2" to deal with my truck's bloated weight.
