X2 on the tube and sticky mounts, never lost it with them and you can get crazy with mounting ideas

Any tricks to separating the outer cv joint from the factory shaft on a 2nd gen front axle shaft? I've beat the piss out of it and no go... Still have another to do as well.

Cut the shaft down as low as you can go, remove the ball bearings,(this part is a pain I the ass) remove the star from the race, see if you can see that C-Clip, if not stick it in a press & stand back

Yes, nomally their are one to two clips on it. take the on you can get to off it should have a gap in the base of the star with a clip the you need to spread. if you spread the clip it should slide off the axle. I need a picture of yours to make sure its the style like mine. if not you have to do it this way. if you have the other side off already (which you should) slide the shaft inside a piece of tube/pipe the same size as the star. it has to be on star because its the strongest part. Anyways grab it from the end and press together and hit the whole thing on the ground as a unit. the clip on the back will break and the axle shaft will fall into the tube. then take apart the joint to get the broken clip out.

    Video of 2nd method

New ones can be bought at Toyota. I know OEM boot kits come with them.
