I have a 2004 dc 4x2 and I'm looking to improve off roading/crawling. I'm not about to sell my truck for a 4x4 since I've only had it a year and put quite a bit of money in it. I want to know the best solution that will help me out with this issue. I understand the best solution would be to buy a 4wd so don't try to tell me I need to sell it, I'm just looking for the best alternative. I've heard a long travel or solid axel kit would help out a lot but Ineed opinions on that.

What would you like to do with your truck? because crawling would really benefit from 4wd

Long travel is only good for speed over bumps. Solid axle would require 4wd for it to be of any use.

You could add a locker if you don't already have one but let me tell you coming from a Prerunner to a 4wd, don't spend the money. Cut your losses, find a 4wd. There is no amount of stuff to do to a 2wd to make it anywhere near a 4wd. I wish I never spent the amount of money I did on my Prerunner and put that money towards a 4wd

Long travel will help you haul ass. All that added wheel travel up front does nothing for crawling when you don't have power to those wheels.

    Buy a Polaris RZR.

You will save a ton compared to building a comparably capable truck and it will still be more capable. And you won't trash your daily driver.

Thanks for the input, I'm considering buying a second cheaper truck just for the crawling aspect. I may just pre runner it out with nice suspension but for now it does what I need it to do.
