    i vote steel wheel...

with LT, if you plan to do some quick paced wheeling, you stand a good chance to hit a rock at 40+mph...

on one of our last runs, i smacked a big rock at about 50mph... the steel wheel got bent, but never lost a bead... was able to finish the run and drive home with the bent wheel... had it been an alloy wheel, i woulda been out a wheel...

Thats what I was thinking. Something like this:
    http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/R...9&t_pt=100021&t_pl=100347&t_pn=PCW52-7983R2.5

(hows the backspacing on those? good width?)

If I'm running my truck here, we have some of those Oh sh!t rocks (boulders). they arent fun if you hit them.

today out in Barstow, i saw a truck that looked 6 inches over in front with stock rear... THAT looked a lil odd...

4 inches aint a whole lot...

(ok, who will be the FIRST to quote the line above?)

Check out Blackhawke88, MonkeyProof, Dtrujillo23, KnightRider, and BrandonH's trucks.

I believe they all have LT kits

    To all who are researching.

Look at Engage, Total Chaos, and Camburg. Each company has certain pros/cons for their kits.

One company may have huge travel numbers, another may allow you to run a coil over shock, secondary shock and bumpstop, another company may have the lowest price on their kit etc.

Get on each company's website to research and if possible talk to someone with each kit on their truck.

Think about the long term plan for your truck before you make the investment.

all kits have a coil over shock, secondary bypass option, and bumpstops option.
Travel numbers, kit designs, cost, and material used are all different

Whoa! Really? So if I get the Engage kit (which I most likely will) it will come with the King coilovers and all the extra stuff??!!

Thats not true unless your talking about stock bumpstops.

Total Chaos only lets you run the stock bumpstop unless your going to reinforce their lower control arm yourself. Camburg lets you run a hydraulic bumpstop and they reinforced their lower arm to let you run it. I have no idea about Engage so I wont speculate.

Thats all extra my friend. Add in another $1200 for the coilovers and another $400 for front fiberglass fenders. Thats the minimum you will need in addition to the cost of your kit.

    From what prices I've gotten:
    • Engage LT kit + King coilovers= $3,525.00 (shipping_____)
    • Fiberglass Fenders (GlassWorks)= $355.00 (shipping_____)
    • Wheels- Rock Crawler steelies (lnk is in the previous page)= $398.97(4) (Shipping____)
Total (not including shipping- I'll just give about $300 for shipping): $4,278.97+ $300= $4,578.97

I believe I have saved myself about a thousand dollars for getting cheaper steelies. And they will look just as good:cool:

Your #s look about right. Pro Comp makes some pretty cheap alloy wheels that would save you some gas $ in mileage over the heavier steelies. Its your truck though.

What about Prerunner bumpers? Should I wait and get it after I have my LT kit installed? Or just get everything at once.

And I chose steelies because my parents are buying some wheels for me for Christmas. (well hopefully:)) And I dont want them to pay arm and leg for my wheels. I can loose a few MPGs. Its no big deal

Once you put on front fiberglass fenders your stock bumper will look funny since the truck is so much wider. You can get Glassworks bumper caps which you bolt on to make your stock front bumper wider or you can get a prerunner bumper. I would get the bumper at the same time.

Yeah I dont like the whole bumper caps idea, seems like a waste of money to me IMO. I'll probably ride around with the stock bumper until I can afford the PreRunner bumper. I'm in no hurry to get this done..

Well I kindof am for the LT kit:cool::D
