Would not go back to MT for anything. Love the ride on road and offroad. And v6 mustangs can barely keep up with me, onroad or offroad, whatever analogy you wanna use :D

I agree with you,I love driving my LT taco everywhere, but the analogy I wrote was based on what douyouquaxu said.I don't have an analogy for you.

That's pretty sweet that your truck can keep up with a much lighter vehicle now that it has that supercharger. For now my stick shift 2.7 truck is my sports car lol.

I'd like to go full LT on my truck someday but bolt on parts will be more appropriate for my uses and budget for now. Just finished (in the process this year anyway) of putting myself through school for 9 years with an undergrad, teaching credential program, and a master's so the amount of downtime, fab costs, and the fact that I only have one vehicle for now keep me looking down the road. The next phase of my truck will most likely involve a new set of tools, a wrecked TRD Offroad and a welder.

Been looking at the possibility of a 4.0 swap for awhile. Cost wise it would probably be equivalent and way more fun to trade over a 4x4 6 speed off road to my rig since with the right vehicle, the part out sale would be decent. It wouldn't be anything I'd rush into or do if I have a family. But for the time being a good daydream lol. It would be cool since I only know of the Total Chaos eg cab that got a v6. Rocksolid toys has parts to make a lot of electric systems continue to work with an fj transfer case so it could look stockish besides the caging that would probably go with the project. By the time I'd be ready to do it I'll have my own place with a dd and a welder / pipe bender. Kind of a long term goal. Obviously open to a lot of confounding variables, but it gets my wheels turning.

Haha, sounds like a ton of work and time... If it's a 4.0 you want, probably just easier to get one with it already in it.

And this thread went way off topic.

Guess I can contribute though.... I am MT waiting to go LT...
Went MT first cause the time I had associated with bolting on a LT kit and welding gussets to my frame seemed like more time that I have right now to dedicate setting up the front properly.

You're right. The 6 speed and 4x4 would be cool. It's just fun to research it and daydream for me at this point lol.

Im in the same boat as well, got my MT sua which I plan to leave on since I wouldn't upgrade it unless I went to the west. Just waiting on TC to get more LT 3.5 kits in as it seems they are out of everything until Jan 2nd. Do you plan to LT the rear after you get your front squared away?

LT is gonna cost about three times as much and it's only good if you're looking to stand on your gas pedal. Which mean youre gonna get into a lot of sh$t if you're not a good driver. If you think you need a LT kit to run DV or Mojave you don't. MT means you just gonna have to take it slower. But please don't slap on a LT and go rock crawling lol.

I know a few guys around here who have LT and it suits well for rock crawling. Im getting mine as I like to drive at decent speeds on the trail and just feel LT will be better suited for me. The front could use some catching up as well at this point. Also if I ever get back to the west, I will be glad I did it.

You have a good rear setup going for you right now. I was thinking of doing that same setup for the rear but it would be a mid travel kit again and the time and cost didn't seem worth it to me.

My original plan was to do Lt rear then front, but I plan to do most of the work myself, right now it isn't going to work out. When my Camburg kit gets made, it's going on then it's just a matter of peicing together the rear which will take more time to gather parts.

I agree man, for right now with me being on the east coast it does fine for what it is. If I was out in Cali though, I would def do it right and wait and save like you are saying. I even was starting to do cost estimates at the giant motorsports LT kit before I stopped myself. In the mean time I will enjoy my truck and let the savings build up in case an *emergency LT* mod must be made. From a numbers game, my SUA kit cost about $2500 thanks to the BAMF set up as it can be had for cheap and another $1700 for the install due to welding and stuff. If you go LT, I would expect to run about 8k for all the parts, shocks, and fab time for the rear. I bet it is worth it though. What mid travel setup do you have now?

If the rear works for you now, then that's great. For me, I couldn't see myself spending that much money on that setup that I probably would be re-doing in the end anyway.

With plans to do the rear myself, I hope to cut down that 8K price tag as the majority of it is labor to pay a shop to do the install. I have Camburg UCAS, Camburg Spindles and King EXT Coilovers in front. Thea rear is stock right now, but going to be putting on a Deaver pack and some better shocks soon.

If you are going that route, I would def look to piece it together based on a spring under kit. Would suck to piece things together and not get the right geometry needed to have a good rear set up. As far as my rear, I don't expect to have to swap it out for a few years atleast so depending on my plans I may never LT the rear. Its ok though, I got a leg up around here though as most guys who go LT tend to throw a Dakar pack in the rear with extended smoothies on the east coast. I really wish I had some skills with a welder.

Even if I went the bolt in spring under route using the factory shackles, I still would have to get my drive shaft work done not once but twice once I ditch that and go to a true LT spring under. There's just too much wasted time and money going that route and if I were to spend the time and money doing it I might as well do it right the first time. That's where I just decided, since I picked up a Deaver pack for a good price, I'll just stay spring over and save until I can do the spring under right the first time.
Sure, I won't get much from a spring over setup and I don't expect to. I just need something better than stock at the moment.
