We were on a several day trip in our 14 Double Cab TRD Sport. While the driving was tiring, I found the truck very comfortable. My wife, on the other hand, claimed the seat was so UNcomfortable.

I'm 5'7", she's 5'0" and part of her discomfort was that the head rest was pushing her head forward. I don't know about that, but with all our crap in the back seat, she couldn't recline like she usually does on long trips.

Any other short people out there or wives/girlfriends? How do they feel about the seat and what have they tried to make it more comfortable for them?

Same problem here. Wife complained that headrest was hitting her on the back of her head before her back contacted the seat. I made a bolster out of 2" thick foam rubber, Made it the height of the seat back and the width just fits between the seat back bolsters. Went to the fabric shop and picked up some cloth and made a cover. She loves the seat comfort now.

I had the same issue. These trucks have a active headrest. We posted picks earlier today how to remove it. The seat is terrible untill you remove it. Once it's gone it was very nice to sit in. There is a warning in the owners manual telling you NOT to pile stuff in the back seat and then try and recline. It Actully shoves the headrest forward because of the active seat. It took me less than 10 mins to remove it. A bunch of guys did it today after my post and loved it!!!
    Good luck!

my wife hated the seats in my 2013 TRD Sport DCLB.
It was the headrest pushing her head forward as well.
My fix... took out the headrests and bent the arms back using a vise block for bicycle repairs stuck in my bench vise.
    Problem solved.

Op, my wife hates the seats in my '14 Tacoma as well. She can't ride in it for more than 20 minutes without complaining about comfort. What's weird is I find the seats completely fine and mine isn't even a sport.

Will be honest though, I had a 2010 DCSB, SR5 and for some reason the seats in that truck were much more comfortable, even though I realize they were the same deign, just different material.

As far as the headrest angle goes, couple of suggestions. Don't quote me on this, but I believe Toyota uses the same headrest internals (frame and chrome bars) on every Toyota product. Subaru shares the same parts bin with Toyota for much of the underlying parts you can't see.

An example 2010-2014 Legacy seats are same as 07+ Camry & Lexus ES. Anyway, in 2012 Subaru changed the headrest in the Impreza & XV to a "Tilt out of the way" design. Some 2010-'14 Outback owners swapped this headrest in their Outback/ Legacies which have the forward, protruding design like the Tacoma.

My point is there is a 90% chance the adjustable-tilting Impreza headrest will fit in the stock Tacoma location, and you will just have to find a close match on the fabric.

*Edit* I will actually go out to the driveway, and confirm if my wifes '13 Outback headrest, fits in the same place as the stock Tacoma headrest. If that's the case, I will know 100% sure if the tilting Impreza headrest would work on a Tacoma.

**Edit** Subaru headrest will not work on a Tacoma, the bars are much narrower and don't align with the holes on the Tacoma. Perhaps the 4Runner, Sequoia or Land Cruiser has a better design?

I had a friend complain about the headrest so we turned it around and he quit bitching, I would say give that a try

How tall is your wife? I do think its height related, and I like your idea of a booster. I wonder if at 5'0" if a 2" booster would be enough for her.

That ^^ worked with my 5'6" wife. Not sure how safe it is, though.

I'm not sure this is the same matter. I find the seat very comfortable, but I'm taller and therefore up higher in the seat back. The headrest doesn't bother me at all. I think its more about her smaller frame not fitting the seat.

I could be wrong, but if it was the headrest, I would think it would bother me more.

    ^^ LoL

And these are supposed to be the better seats than the SR and SR5's. No complaints here.

I just tell the girlfriend to "SHUT UP AND DEAL WITH IT" or " MAKE ME A SAMMICH" then she's occupied.

(Yes, I have sandwich supplies in the truck at all times.)

If you fix this for her, she will just find something else to complain about...

My wife is 5-3. Think you misunderstood my bolster description. It is not intended to be placed under her butt. It is the HEIGHT of the back of the seat and fits between the side bolsters on the SEAT BACK. It moves the body forward and away from the headrest. We use it on both the 2011 tacoma and the 2014 avalon. Makes both seats very comfortable for her.

My wife is 5'9 and she hates her seat too. I had an '06, a '13, and now a '14 and she complained the same in every truck. Doesn't like the headrest, hurts her back, her legs fall asleep blah, blah, blah. You'd think controlling the temperature, fan speed, radio station, radio volume, and the position of all of the windows could take her mind off of it!

Oh, now see, she took a regular pillow and put it on the back and claimed it helped very little. She also ran the head rest all the way up so it was no where near her head, and was still uncomfortable. That's why I started to think she was too short to fit "the pocket" of the seat. I think her spin bones don't match the curve of the seat back.

My discomfort with the seat was the seat bottoms angle. I added spacers under the rear of the seat mounts and all is good now.

This is my issue with the seats as well. What height spacers did you use?
