All around, I like the long bed. Looks, utility, and the extra space in the drive-train it allows for. There have been a couple of situations where I've actually said to myself that it would be impossible to get this job done if I had settled on the short bed.

Also, if anyone here is outdoors-y, it's a lot easier to fit two people into the back with a canvas cover on those nights where the ground is wwwaaayyyy too cold to sleep on. Even have an outlet for a heater. :)

I went with the long bed for more cargo space and it looks more proportional with the DC. I only wish the DCLB came with the 6 speed... The only thing I'm not happy about with my truck, but so far have been loving it!

It all comes down to what your needs are, listed in order to figure it out.

Short bed. That extra 12 inches in the bed is worthless. If you haul something everyday then get a fullsize truck. I have a short bed with a tool box and I have more than enough room to carry whatever I need to. If the item is too big then I will get a trailer.

I've never wished I had a short bed. I think the sb's look funny and I hate the way the fender flares look on them, they just end at the cab.

I got a pretty big garage! I can park my current truck in with plenty of room to spare!

I've never looked at my LB and wished it was shorter but keep hearing SB folks say they wish they had a LB once in a while. If you wheel seriously then a LB can be a disadvantage... for everyone else I recommend it.
