Long waits still common? Did dealer lie?

Dealers and lying? Shocking I know. Went into the dealer on the 5th of june saying I wanted a 2023 SR black 4x4 V6. He found an allocation that was supposed to come in sometime between the 10th-16th of June. I said all through it that buying this truck is contingent on me selling my 2022 to pay for it and I will be without a vehicle for however long and the shorter the wait the better obviously and I will not do the deal if it's over a month wait.

He said delivery times are about 95 percent accurate on when they come in now. Fast forward to now and my truck is still sitting at the port in Mexico with a slated delivery towards the end of July. A month and a half from when I placed the deposit.

No holds. No delays(yet). Dragonpro like a bad ass helped me find where my truck is when the dealer kept giving me the run around on why my truck isn't going to be here for so much longer than slated. Is this still the norm? My truck sitting at the port for over a week not moving. Is this a common tactic with dealers to say it will arrive sooner to get money down or did I just get unlucky?

Honest question. What answer are you looking for on here, because you didn't seem to find it on the previous five threads you made about it.

...We understand waiting for a big ticket purchase, we really do. But on the other hand...

Tacomaworld and going back into somebody's post history, name a more iconic duo;)

    Jk

I know it's just irritating not knowing that's all and seeing my truck sit at the port in Mexico for over a fucking week with no movement. My stockpile of mods is starting to take over the whole house waiting.

    GIVE ME MY EXPENSIVE SON.

when did you alert them your 2022 was sold? That's probably when they actually processed the request to bring it in, since you gave them a contingency on it's sale.
Yes, they are going to embellish,,,, they want the sale.
    Is it right? no
Is the timing of production or delivery in their control? no

A stockpile of mods taking over the whole house???? weren't you the one having a fit over a $170 LED bed light?

Yes :) that was me I really didn't want them. And I actually sold my 2022 the very next day to carvana, my new 2023 was out of the factory and got delivered to the port in Mexico on the 6th(same day I sold my truck) and has been there for 10 days doing nothing.

It's only been at the port for a week?!?! That's nothing. I work for a Lexus dealership and we've had cars sit at port for 2 months waiting on processing and shipment. Like everywhere else the last few years, labor shortage affects the ports as well.

At the risk of stirring the pot, what does a 2023 Taco have that a 2022 doesn't?

The dealer BS (and tax and title fees) are the main downside for buying new vehicles, so I'm always curious as to why people trade up so frequently for a new model of the same car.

We get the same thing. People wanting a new car every year or two. It has 10k miles it must be worn out.
I don't get it either. But if they want to buy it, we're gonna sell it to them.

As far as deposits go, most of our cars are sold long before they arrive. So if you want one, you're gonna leave a deposit and wait.

I did just see another thread about the headgasket and such, which sucks.

It's definitely a gamble, hoping the next one has fewer issues. At least he's right about the paint, but mechanically the odds are about the same in the new one.

My Hyundai Tucson got all the way to the railyard in Denver and sat for two months. Literally 2 miles down the road from the dealer. I asked the dealer can't we just go pick it up and he said unfortunately no. They don't take ownership of the vehicle until it hits their lot. I guess contract shipping companies deliver the vehicle from the rail terminal. He looked into it for me and the response he got was there just were not enough delivery drivers and the vehicle just sits in the que till it comes up. This lot is not just a Hyundai lot. It is called the Big Lift and is located on South Santa Fe and holds several thousand vehicles. My brothers Mazda stuck there for a while as well.

If you need a vehicle to drive while waiting for your truck, go get a monthly rental rate from a rental car company and fund it from your Carvana profit.
