DCLB with MT never existed. You must be mixing it up with DCSB.

Almost all highway at 65+. If I stay around 70 or less I'll get around 21-22 MPG

I drove 80 all the way across south dakota and averaged about 17ish.

The auto that I had really didnt like the higher speeds which was a big reason I traded mine in. Trying to maintain 80 it would jump between 5th and 4th gear, wouldn't even hit 6th. I was averaging less than 15 mpg (Tanks of 13-15 mpg in a stock truck). After that I gave up and slowed down because it was incredibly frustrating and the fuel economy was terrible. Yes I had the transmission TSB which helped significantly but the gearing still sucked for 70+ speeds.

With the manual I can hop in 6th and it just goes. Its running right in the power band and has zero issues. If you are driving at those speeds, I wouldn't even consider the auto IMO.

I had about 50k miles on the auto and I'm currently at about 32k miles on the MT. I would never go back.

Just my .02 but I was in a similar situation before I purchased my DCLB...

Yeah manual would have been nice but the amount of times I've been thankful for having a long bed have already made the decision worth while. Plus after installing my lift I think a DCSB would have looked silly with a 3 inch lift. The long bed is already pretty short, the short bed is basically like an open trunk rather than a bed

DCLB Sport with MT did exist. As far as I knew it still does.

The DCLB does look sweet with a small lift! I think the proportions of it are spot on.

I wanted a long bed, instead I bought the manual and a 16 foot utility trailer

I would have preferred the long bed over the short, but never was able to configure that combo + the Dual Cab &MT. So, short bed won.

I may be sitting corrected, but I could have SWORN in 16 there was a DCLB in the Sport. Dealer was trying to push it on me when I wanted the manual because he thought I wasnt going to buy the auto.

Either way, I am having trouble finding anything about it now so maybe Im wrong.

There was never a DCLB with a manual in the third gen (at least in the US). You could get a DCSB TRD OR, DCSB TRD Sport, AC TRD Sport or DCSB TRD PRO with the 6MT. I believe there is a SR5 option too with the 4cyl.

This is the right answer. Most I've dealt with I knew far more about the truck than they did. When I bought my 2016 I asked if I needed to give them a lesson on the truck.

Maybe it was the SR5 or something. Or maybe the dealer was an idiot. Or maybe both. I considered it for a split second. Now Im glad I didnt spend too much time thinking about it! Ha! Sorry for the confusion fellas.

Never a 3rd Gen SR5 Manual either, there "was" an SR Access Cab 4 Cyl 5 Speed but that is now discontinued.

True but it's still worthwhile to consider wheel base. ACLB and DCSB are same wheelbase. Maneuverability is a consideration as well...its what made the 1st gens a gem

Get the manual short bed. Spend a couple hundred and get a good used craigslist trailer.
