Same dilemma I was in. In Canada you can't get a OR long box only short box. My snow bike wouldn't fit in a short box so long box limited is what I got and the extra room for dirt bikes in summer is nice. Plus camping in my first Ben with 6ft box and RTT my box was stuffed.

The DCLB rides a little smoother but is as long as a Tundra without it's back bumper. I didn't need the Ridgeline sized bed.

Manual trans far outweighed the long bed for me...

save up, make the switch! money is money and all, can't comment on your situation, but a rewarding feeling of driving my truck is indeed and absolutely worth some kind of money.

    Kicker tweeters, more to come...
The 6MT is the best manual I have ever driven in a truck. Matches the motor much better than the auto I test drove. It's that good. Im 6' 2" and comfortable. Get the seat position right and you barely have to move your leg to engage/disengage clutch. I'm averaging 19.8 mpg on a 30 mile commute on mostly back roads at 65-70 mph.

Edit: just go ahead and order the Subaru tweeters too if you like music and get a 17. The stock system is trash. Tweeters fix 60% of the problem. 100 bucks:headbang:

No manual in anything that'll haul 3 kids, new. Buying used opens up possibilities though.

I think there are a few new Manual SUV, CUVs still around, maybe Subaru, Jeep, Mazda, Honda, and Mitsubishi if I'm not mistaken.

More than I would've thought. For what it's worth though, if my parents had tried to put all 3 of us in a single row backseat, they'd quickly had fewer children. Any MT's left with 3-row seating?

Not really sure, i was just thinking of those off the top of my head but i doubt if there are any bigger ones, other than maybe a Nissan Xterra.

I've been out of the market for 18 months, but when i was believe me i checked it all.

the only one that looked possible for my needs, although barely, was a Subie, actually 2. the Crosstek and a Forester. both were anemic. both had an excessively light and cheesy feel at the stick. both were way under powered. and sedans were out so no WRX. i just retired an R32. i figured there would be too much to correct with the Subies so i decided to head more towards a stock situation.

so i got a Tacoma and modded the hell out of it. lol

I've driven both and did not notice that big of a difference in drivability. However, having own a 14 Sport DCSB and now a 17 Offroad DCLB, I find the long bed more useful. It really depends on what you intend to do with the bed. I take the truck camping a lot and also haul my motorcycle around so the long bed comes in handy. Also, if you decide to get a tonneau cover that rolls up into a canister in the bed, then you will lose another foot of the bed. Last but not least, I think a long bed looks more balanced and substantial when lifted along with bigger tires... something to think about.
