It must be a truck by truck basis because there is literally nothing to complain about with my DCLB transmission. I drive up hills, down hills, in the snow, on the interstate, on dirt backcountry roads.

Holy fuck I'm so jealous of that shifter. Also,

I don't think it's a "truck by truck" basis. It's a well established fact that this truck is underpowered, gets terrible fuel economy over 55mph and can't hold sixth. Unless your bone stock alone an unloaded with aahalf a tank left. If your okay with that, that's fine. But you're the diamond in the rough. Most of us have an automatic that dances all over. There are dozens on this forum that traded in their trucks for last gens and tundras at a loss, and if there are dozens on the forum that did it, you can bet there's probably hundreds that did.

Or people on TW are crazy. But yes, I am running a stock DCLB and I average 20 mpg at 70 on the interstate and enjoy driving my truck. The Tacoma is the best selling midsize truck in the country and a vast majority, vast vast vast majority, are automatics. This is an enthusiast website, which brings out the OCD. Most people are happy with the auto or they wouldn’t keep selling 100s of thousands every year.

Met the driver in Little Rock today and took delivery of my new tacoma. It rides so nice and smooth compared to my 2500 and old 1st gen taco's. Drove between 67-75 for 350 miles and got 18.8 hand calculated and the readout said 18.9. Im impressed with it so far!

Depends on ur needs. I think the DCSB is way too short in back. I totally love my DCLB for the extra space. 1 ft may not seem like much but it is. Getting a bed extender for a pickup seems kinda weird to me. I drive a manual Suv most of my adult life and yes it’s more fun, but I don’t mind the AT at all. And contrary to what people say, after it ‘learns’ the AT has no problem shifting into highest gear in highways. It’s a tatally different drive today (1 yr in) than it was when spankin new. Just sayin...

Well, since I just drove home a hot-off-the-assembly-line 2018 TRD OR DCLB with Premium and Tech last night, I'm gonna say long bed.. :)
