So I have a pretty big yard and if I unlock the truck I usually can't get to it before it locks itself back. Is there anyway to change the unlock time to make it longer or cancel the lock back? 2011 Tacoma and 17 4runner

I usually wait until I get to the rear of the truck before pushing the button. Mine does the same thing if I take too long:sorry:

I don't know of any way to change it. It's a nice feature though. If the unlock button is accidentally pressed....in your pocket, in a purse, by a kid, etc....truck will lock itself back if a door is not opened.

Why not just wait until you get closer?

You have 30 sec. to open a door once the Unlock button has been pressed on the Fob.

AFAIK, the only way to fix this is to “run faster” or push the button on the Fob “later”.

Thank you all for the useful info. Perhaps, is there is someone out there who knows what component actual resists for 30 seconds before locking it back is more of what I'm looking for.

    Thank you.

If I were to guess, the component is the Body ECU.
And the delay is encoded with in the ECU software.
Maybe there is a way to change it using TechStream (Toyota diagnostic software)

I can’t say I’ve ever heard anyone mention it before?

I haven't seen anywhere to change it in Techstream...

Why do you need to unlock the door while you are so far away?

Nope, walk closer to the vehicle before unlocking with the key fob or key remote.

Loads of Tacoma's do not have the RS3200 Alarm system and just the factory system such as my Prerunner with the 2.7 liter and No alarm system or Engine Immobilizer. It also will re-lock the doors after 30 seconds if a door is not opened.

    I guess the question is,

How do you know what system you have?

He wants to leave his keys hanging up by the front door, hit the button and have more time to walk to his truck.

How does 0 second delay work? Does that mean when you press the unlock it locks it right away thereby never allowing you to enter the truck, and locks you out permanently?
