    I lived in Alaska for 3 winters. I would lock into 4HI on the first snow fall and keep it that way for about the next 9 months. I drove at highway speeds up up to 80 mph in 4HI. Never had an issue with the 4WD system.

    I have run 65 in 4HI in my 2nd Gen so far this winter.

    Do you need 4WD on some of the photos? No. Is 4WD gonna save your ass when you get off on the shoulder a bit or have to change lanes or turn onto a covered road? Maybe.

    Given that i am 18, have very little driving experience in snow, and live in Southern California, i would probably be in 4hi in all of them, thats why i have 4 wheel drive. thats just me though
