I want to "like" the TRD Pro... I really do, but a few things aside from the price stand out.

The grill sticks out too far.

The TRD Pro badges are too big for the truck.

The rims should be flat/matte black vs. gloss

Granted, all of these can be removed/changed out, and that's about the only thing I see with it. I like the QS color I have, but if I had another choice the cement gray would be my close second.

Still...43k for that? forget that action.

I don't get toyota, they had the perfect color (QS)and the perfect wheels (4r sema) for a killer trd pro this year that might, might have been worth what they are asking for it.

Agreed, that is over 12K more then my 15" TRDOR cost. For a TRDPRO model, the tires look pretty wimpy, add another $1000-$1200 right there.

    But if they sell..................

I'm seriously considering the Pro - I even put down $500 on one to reserve it. It comes in September and I'm still deciding. I've been reading everyone's comments on the price and I'm curious what one thinks is fair and reasonable if $43k is too much. When I build a new OR DCLB on the Toyota website the way I want it, it comes to $39,803 (OR DCLB, premium tech package, predator step bars, floor mats, mudguards, TRD front skid plate). I'm not comparing apples to apples since the Pro won't have the LB, but to me that is the primary sacrifice. Thus, I'm basically paying $3k in MSRP extra for the Pro. Am I being too naïve in this calculation or something, because everyone is balking at the MSRP price for the Pro like it is overpriced and I just don't see it. What am I missing?

Your looking at like $7k in extra stuff, that might be really worth $3-4k depending on where & what you get in 3rd party components....
Its really a matter if you want to overpay for those components and have a warranty for them in one place.

you aren't missing anything, other people are. people are comparing base line TRDOR without the premium & technology upgrade or JBL upgrade, many of them manual, with no or few dealer accessories. if you add prem&tech + JBL, trd skid plate, trd exhaust to the TRDOR its only a couple thousand less actually. and then when you take into account leather seats, the new suspension, its actually pretty much what people should expect based on the other model's pricing.

They worked payment where it needed to be. My dealer couldnt do that on the F150 without me getting rid of alot of options I wanted. Plus I dont need a fullsize and it wouldnt fit in the garage.

I understand the line of payment vs options, so I know the feeling. I've always parked my trucks outside so the non fitment of the garage is no big deal to me

I would agree with you. You are correct. If you are going to get a fully loaded OR like that, and you don't mind the short bed, It really comes down to almost the same price. If you plan to sell later, maybe 5 years, you'll definitely get the extra 3k that you paid for initially. That's assuming you have it in great condition after then.

If you plan to keep, which makes the majority of TW, its not worth it. If you drive an Off Road 4x4 after you ran it 100k miles/4 years, investing 3k in a new suspension and possibly bumpers and goodies revives your truck and makes you fall in love with it all over again.

It really all depends on how much time you like to spend working on your trucks normal maintenance.
