Nothing better/worse. Just get the options on that truck that you'll use (or think you'll use). All years will be fine though. Enjoy and welcome.

So you are probably going to be looking for a 1st gen tacoma then. Make sure the frame is inspected before you buy it by toyota. Toyota had a big deal with frame rust on them.

Well I have 197,8xx miles on mine and it runs great and no problems. I would say look for the lowest mileage you can get. See if the seller has maintenance records on it if private party.

awesome, the ones ive been finding around here are averaging around 200000, being in the mountains you have to drive a lill distance to get to anything. do you know if toyota would charge me anything to check out the frame? or i could pull the girl card and they might do it for free? :D

They check the frames for free. I got a letter in the mail saying my rust warranty was extended to 15yrs on my truck. You don't want to find out after you bought the truck though cause there is a timeline of ownership for it. They won't let you buy a truck then them fail the frame and get the 1.5x kbb excellent value for it in the buy back program.

Like Medic said, a 1st Gen is where you'll find the Manual option and or than likely would have to be an access cab, finding a DC in a manual is like a needle in a hay stack. As for mileage, Medic said it once again, find the lowest you can find and hope they have record of all the work. If it's a dealership, ask to have a Carfax pulled and it'll show anything that's been done, professionally anyway. Welcome to TW.

ok well, ive found 2 needles at one dealership then, only thing is they are 2000 and 2002 both right at 200000 miles but they want 5995 for one and 6995 for the other, i just feel like its a lill pricey for that kind of mileage, unless im crazy, private sells are going for less with less mileage but they are never available more than 3 days at the most. tacos are really popular up here in the mountains, esp the mannys. what do you guys think of the pricing on those two, this is my first car buy, my exploder was a grad gift from the parents and the mini was a gift from the gparents when the exploder exploded.
