Hey guys, I'm in TN and have always been a fan of tacoma's but just now in my life got to the point where I can buy a new truck. So I'm looking at an extended cab, auto, V6 TRD package. Anything you guys can tell me about the new tacoma's and this package, etc that I should stay away from etc. The truck on the lot is 31k and just wondering what the over all opinions on the new ones are.

I plan on doing some research and lurking around here as I signed up to see what all I can find out about these trucks.

    Thanks everyone

Lots of of good info in the 2GEN section.
The 12 model redesigned front end looks great imo.
    Good luck with your purchase.
This site is the best Tacoma enthusiast forum out here so watch out.
It gives you way to many ideas to spend your $$! :)

    The better coast
    Welcome!

As mentions before there is tons of info on this site. The 2nd gen section should have a few 2012 specific threads started if you want opinions from others who have purchased a 2012

Welcome... be sure you understand the difference between the two TRDs before you buy... it depends on what you want/ need!

TRD OFF ROAD: Additional traction over other models: Rear Locker, and on 4WDs, A-TRAC in low range (provides the traction close to front and rear lockers). Hydraulic Brake Booster to power the traction systems.

TRD SPORT: No additional traction, decorative hood scoop and color matched bumpers and mirrors.

This is the man to direct any of your traction control questions to.

In my Top Gear (UK) Jeremy Clarkson voice:
Some say he is a direct descendant of A-TRAC, others believe he raised out of the dunes of Pismo and took the shape of a Tacoma. All we know, is he is called DavidK

Other than that, You should be able to get a Double Cab for that price. if you negotiate, and do your research, you could get a Double Cab short bed for <$30k. Check out the "2012 Pricing - What did you pay?" thread...

Thanks for the welcome and info. I'm still in the process of deciding about a purchase. I've been a Mustang person forever and always had beater trucks mostly Fords, but I think the time has come to get a real truck and put the ponies away. I definately am going to check out the pricing thread and the 2nd gen section to get some info.

Thanks for this info, I was actually just at Toyota's website reading through all the options.. I probably won't offroad a lot but I want the off road, I want to get what I pay for other than decorations if that makes sense. Nothing wrong with it, just if I'm going to do it, I want to do it right and not look back with regret.
