Curious what you guys think of this rust. It's going to be a farm truck for my dad and I. Was hoping to get a lot of years out of it but I'm a bit weary.Attach21346_20190103_162034.jpg Attach21347_20190103_162054.jpg Attach21348_20190103_162121.jpg Attach21349_20190103_162133.jpg

I'd skip it. Looks like the frame has been repaired due to rust already. It's only going to get worse

I wouldn't necessarily say that using angle iron to path a frame is an especially legit way to patch a frame...

You can see it doesn't even match the shape of the frame at the rear. Not the best patch job, but not the worst, either...

I guess it depends on what you intend to use it for. A trail rig? I wouldn't worry about it since you're likely to hack it up and weld on it anyway. A daily driver? I might hesitate.

I thought the same. He's asking 7.2k with 234k on the engine as well. I think we're going to pass.

It's going to be used mainly for farm work. Hauling water, firewood, towing light trailers, that kind of thing. Don't plan on using it as a daily commuter.

I see rust free trucks going for that price...

Get it for $5k and you'd have a good start for a trail rig...

That's not so bad for a farm truck. Like I said above, try and talk him down to around 5 and you might be good.

If for a farm truck, I'd say talk him down to $4500ish then I'd do it.

For a farm truck, i’d look at a full size with a V8. Much cheaper and has been reliable so far. I'd skip the frame repaired Tacoma even at $4K. That frame will continue rusting. 55483828-60DE-4927-8A12-2751FF233A92.jpg

no one said Toyota didn’t make more than one million mile Tacoma... also are there recalls on the frames for these or is that just some of the second gens? Might be worth a shot

There are VERY few Tacomas that even have a chance of qualifying for the frame repair (it's actually an extended warranty, not a recall). There are VERY specific things that had to have happened for even 2004s to qualify, and they're only good for 15 years past manufacture date, which there are only a few 2004s left that would qualify for that. i think the fact that the frame was repaired, and obviously repaired poorly (used angle iron!) would void any sort of replacement anyway.

for a farm truck, wouldn't be too bad if the price was right (7.2k, lol nope), but since you want to keep it for a long time, it's definitely a no go. Already has been patched and that rust is just going to get worse and worse

FYI even the worse attempted frame repairs never disqualified the extended Warranties .

Farm Truck as these have really regional prices where are the other prices in your area .

price within range go for it

Ranch Country in Colorado you put mileage on quick

Now that it's 2019, only 2004 Tacomas have a shot at getting a new frame...the warranty program extends the warranty on the frame for 15 years from the truck's in-service date, so only 2004s will qualify assuming they meet the other requirements.
