Howdy from the 2nd gen world!

Looking at picking up a new 2023 Tacoma to add to the family while they have the 3.99% finance offer.

From what I'm seeing, the MSRP is about $46,000.

I don't have enough to make an all cash offer, so I'll probably have to finance $15-$20 thousand. No trade in.

So far the couple of dealerships I talked to have not been willing to consider anything under the asking price.

Anyone able to buy a new Tacoma lately for anything less than sticker price? If so, what was your approach? In shopping in South Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi.

    Thanks in advance!

I've read MSRP or around 1k under MSRP as the going rate these days. You should be able to find one for slightly under MSRP with the 2024's arriving soon. End of the month and end of the year are the best times to try and make deals.

Car sales really slow down during the holiday's until the new year starts, because many are tapped out financially. Seems like that could be in your favor to get a discount.

Did the same in July at 3.99 which is cheaper than cash. No regrets, it's a solid truck and last chances are dwindling. I had to work (drive) to not pay several thousand over msrp, depends on location. glwp

Under MSRP is ONLY if the dealer wants to be nice. Good luck on that as you are one of ... oh ... just only hundreds willing to buy most ANY Tacoma.

Ask even a few hundred miles from your home for the best deal ... buy-then-drive-home is more common now than it ever would have been before the changeover to Gen 4.

I bought a TRD Off-Road and the dealership did come down about $2k and included front door delivery(saved me about 4 hours, 1 way). Dealerships are not budging much on price due to low inventory. Use CarGurus or another app to find what you are looking for and see what other regional dealers are charging.
The dealership sales model is becoming obsolete, BTW.

My son just bought a TRD OR DCLB last month. Sticker price. At least there was no markup. Also DCLB seem to be unicorns on the lots.

Depends on where you are located and if you are willing to travel/fly and buy. I actually travelled from Wyoming to Texas (DFW area) because no Pros within 600 miles of me were available for MSRP. They all had mark ups or accessory bloat. Sure, it was a 2400ish mile round trip to drive down, trade, and drive back, but it saved me between $5K-$8K to do it. Expand your area and you can save enough to make the trip worthwhile. I know the dealership in Casper, WY had some in stock and advertised with $500-$1200 off, but IDK if they boosted prices before hand, as I don't know the TRD OR MSRP or what packages their trucks have.

I was able to negotiate 6% off the MSRP on my 23 OR. Then did 3.99 for 36. Plus I didn't have to pay all those "junk fees" as I, and them, know they aren't required. So, yes. There are deals out there. You just have to create the deal. Go in knowing exactly the one you want, have the VIN, have comps in the area, and don't take no for an answer. They will make up the savings you may be able to create on the next moron who will go in an pay MSRP and a high interest rate. Inventory is just fine now, so don't let them play that game. Watch "The Homework Guy" on Youtube. Killer information and tactics. I didn't even walk in the dealership. Did it all through email. Walked in after deal was done, signed the contract and got the keys. Was there for 30 minutes. 10 of that waiting and having coffee.

I also will promote flying to a dealer who will sell under MSRP. 1 way ticket is $300 and gas, lodging and food is maybe another $300 depending how far you have to drive. You can save $2,000 still after paying for the above. Plus road trips are fun.

There's literally a sticky thread where everyone gives specifics on the deal they got. Mine was several k under MSRP less than 2 weeks ago but that seems uncommon based on that thread.

    Great advice everyone thanks!

What are the 'Junk Fees' I should demand removed. I'm spending a week in Houston and they have some high volume dealerships here. Probably going to test the waters while I'm here.

Personally, I don't care what fees they have so long as I like the price. You can mark it down as any fee you like so long as the OTD price is what I like. Doing the fee by fee fight is tedious, painful, and frequently unproductive. If you only want to pay (random number) $43,875 then tell them that's the goal and they can write up the fees and such however they want. If you get that price who cares if the line item says you paid for the GM to have an hour massage, for the secretary to get her nails bedazzled, or for documentation/shipping/WTF ever fee?

Just got mine last week in North Central Florida. I'll break it 100% down for you on what I got and the short form lol

    SHORT FORM:
Ordering directly from Toyota with NO options/packages it would cost you $42,425. (including the $1,335 delivery fee) NOT including tax/title/tag/dealer fee.
    I paid $41,489 NOT including tax/title/tag/dealer fee and adding $3k in upgrades/packages.

    LONG FORM:
2023 TRD OR 4x4 Double Cab with 5' bed is $41,090 MSRP without ANY additional upgrades like packages, step bars, etc,...(that is what it costs if you order directly from Toyota) PLUS $1335 delivery for a total would have been $42,425.

Well I had a wash of a trade-in to save taxes (I owed $20k, got $20k), so after tax ($1500), title/tag ($211), and dealer fee $950---- $45,086 WOULD have been the total out the door, but they removed the delivery fee, which a lot of dealers do. So if there were NO EXTRA'S/Packages it would have been $43,751 out the door.

This was a preorder so they had already added the XP Black Out package --black exhaust tips, upgraded 16" tires to the Duratracs, phone cables, front hood and door protection, oil changes for 2 years + dealer adds 2 more years (so 4 years of oil changes at 5-7k mile intervals with tire rotation, etc....) and I got everything for $44,150 out the door.

Overall, I thought I did great considering the market and I got 5.25% for 72 months interest.

Was looking for wind chill pearl - not easy to find. Went to McGee in Epping NH. 2023 TRD Sport in wind chill pearl. They had $2000 "dealer discount" off of MSRP so about $41600 BUT offered "instant cash offer" for my trade, NOT "trade in value". Those 2 numbers are quite different. Went to Emerson Toyota in Auburn ME and got same exact deal but they paid actual trade value. BTW they were at MSRP and I asked if they would match McGees's discount and they did. Excellent people to work with. 60 months at 4.99%. This was about a month ago.
