^^^ This, ive had my mac book pro since April 06 its on its 4th differnt operating system and it still runs as fast as the day it was brand new. just got a brand new PC at work with 3 times the tech specs and my 5+ year old mac still blows it away in performance.

if i remember correctly (dont quote me on this)

there is a chip inside the macs that allows them to run Mac OS

i believe that it is a security thing, though i also think that you can buy a version of it from them

Its not really a chip, there is a signed code on the processor that OS X checks. But people have made a work around. that is how I have had Snow Leopard run on my dell mini 9.

If you wanna do it check this out. Lion Install Snow Leopard Install Dual Boot install

Well shit, if I can buy a PC and dual boot with Mac... I will most definitely go PC. I can get a more powerful computer for cheaper

Mac. Bought one for college now I'm a junior and it's still running strong. No viruses, no bugs, no glitches, no slowing down.

Built PCs all my life. I spend all day re-imaging win laptops and doing IT admin. I love when I'm home to not have to worry about that crap. Expensive, but not for what you get. Go price out a buisness class win laptop and they are about same. It was great to sell a 4 year old macbook for $650 that was never re-imaged and started up in 15 seconds. PCs have their place at work just not in my house.

Mac Mac Mac... been using both my whole life... may seem more expensive at first but they last much longer. The current iMac I have is 8 years old and runs like a champ! Seems like every PC I've had last 2 years max

I say MAC simply because the no viruses. not worth getting a PC and having to buy a bunch of protection that expires in years and you still have to deal with a bunch of shit on PC. I have a Dell XPS which I upgraded some parts on that I love but the virus protection is so annoying

Keep in mind that 50% of what makes a Mac, a Mac, is the hardware quality that Apple demands.

I manage the technology infrastructure for two FDIC-regulated banks, I host e-mail for around 1,000 people using MS Exchange and manage around 2,000 other PC-based accounts including massive MS SQL databases. I'm all PC all day long...however...

What did I choose for my own personal computer? A Mac. The only issue I have ever had with any of my Mac's? Microsoft Office for Mac locks up and MS AutoUpdate is a POS. Everything else runs well, and why? Because Apple demands that it does.

Do what you want and what suits you best...but Apple is years ahead of PC's in every aspect right now. Windows 8 is supposed to change things, but with Lion on both my iMac and MBP...I can't imagine it getting any better.

Also keep in mind, my oldest brother has worked for Microsoft for 15 years...and I still say all of this. :D
