So as the title suggests I'm looking at ordering in a TRD offroad Manual. Apparently none of the dealers within 250 miles of me stocks this so going to have to order one in.
Dealer is giving me basically the sticker price of $33,850 in the hopes that I can add heated seats as a stand alone option (minus the tech package and the hard bed cover).

So question for you guys that had to order your tacomas in is how much negotiation did you have on the price? Really dont want to pay sticker since all the dealer is doing is clicking order and hands me the keys when it shows up. Never ordered in a custom vehicle so not used to the process. Few guys mentioned paying a little over invoice which would be awesome if they shared how they pulled it off.
Also they are giving me a potential July delivery date so like 10-12 weeks (sounds about right to me)

    Thanks for the help!

You can search cars.com and see if any are in a little larger area. Also, go to truecar or if you are a Costco member, or USAA. You should make your negotiations and have it squared away before ordering. If one dealer don't work with you, another one will. It really depends on how bad you need it and how long you are willing to wait. You can negotiate 500 over "invoice" if you find the right dealer.

E-mail or call all the dealers you can and say that you will pull the trigger once you get the best price. Then use the lowest offer against the other lowest offers. I paid $31,600 for mine.

I think USAA actually goes through true car, at least they did with the wife's rav4.

I got my SR5 $500 below invoice and dealer kept holdback and "extra stuff" i.e. Paint protection was not included.

Dealers are all over the map on pricing ... Just be prepared to walk away and go to other dealers

I forgot. ... USAA and COSTCO get good pricing too ... But sometimes you can beat those too.

If you're financing usaa offers lower rates if you end up using their buying service. It's very likely that you wouldn't find lower rates anywhere else.

I tried using their service but I found that none of the dealers that were on the list would a honor the price and b had any of the trucks that I wanted in allocation. Dealers can't just order what they want. Toyota has to allocate them the truck. The dealer can modify the truck somewhat to what you're looking for. What I would do is email as many dealers as you can. In my case it was over 20. I ended up putting a deposit down on a truck out of state for $250 under invoice. Email the dealers the specifics of what you're looking for and also letting them know that you're looking for pricing at invoice. My dealer responded that they would do $250 under without haggling about it.

There was only one Tacoma around that had what I wanted, so my dealer traded with another dealer for it. If I wasn't able to get that one, my dealer was going to order it. Either way I was going to pay the exact same price, $200 over invoice. I would never pay sticker.

The exact truck I wanted was at a dealership 5 minutes from my house but I passed up on it because they wouldn't even come off of msrp. I'd rather wait and save a few grand.
