    Hey Folks,

I am looking at getting a 1997-2003 taco and found this one in my area. http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/cto/1391278547.html

Do people think this is a good deal for this year truck with so many miles? Any specific questions I should ask to the seller? Any suggestions would be helpful. I am in no rush to buy a truck... but this one seems nice. I want to make sure to get the right one for me, my wife and dogs. We will be putting a topper on it to camp in!!

    Cheers,
    Ryan

I agree, Great deal! I bought my 2000 V6 ext cab 5speed 4x4 for $10000 with 80,000 miles. Ask for Service records. How many owners and driving habits of previous owners. Kids tend to go fast and what not. Check tread on Tires, make sure eveything works fine. (duh..lol) Sounds like a great deal though, just find out as much as you can about the vehicle. Then make it your own. Cut a hole in the airbox for increased air flow, Make sure you have good fluids in all the boxes (stay away form Jiffy lube)

Oh, when you go and drive it, play with the 4x4 and make sure it works.. Engage the Elocker, though it may take awhile to engage.. Thats just the nature of those things.

I agree, good deal just check it out real good with that many miles, if it hasn't been taken care of, thats alot of miles even on a toyota. But if it was taken care of, thats nothin for these trucks!!

Thanks everyone. I was thinking it looked pretty good. I called today and it was a guy who has only owned it for a year. He doesn't have service records, but told me it had the time belt changed at 130k. My wife and I aren't in too big of a hurry so we are thinking we might pass because of the unknowns about the maintenance.

We are looking to get one with a topper on it already so we don't have to buy one. We just saw this one in the same area, does anyone have thoughts on this truck? http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/cto/1387257301.html

It is a bit older, 1999 with 108k. I am not sure if I am really looking for a leather interior. It doesn't seem like a great idea for a truck I plan to camp and 4-wheel in to have leather.

Me thinks I need to go to your neck of the woods when I go to buy a vehicle next!

Pretty Decent... Better then mine again as far as price goes, If I were you, I honestly wouldve checked on that first taco more, but thats just me. The post is gone so I cant look at it again. Darn.. But its up to you. You can find a camper shell cheap on craigslist under Car/truck parts, and depending on the color(again, I forgot what color the original taco you were lookin at is) It would be fairly easy to find one that matches.. White/black = easy! When I bought my Tacoma, It came with a camper and my dad said that it was a decent selling point, Now that Ive taken mine off and put it in the shed, and see them for sell all the time, I dont really think so, but the color match wouldve been hard for me with my color.

I like the factory fog lights on the 01-04
