I am looking for a 12v power source some where under the steering wheel. Is there an open spot on the fuse box that I can connect to that is easy to get to?

There are two thick wires in the ignition harness you can get. One is white/red and the other is white/blue. you can tap into either.

Use an "add a circuit" in the fuse panel. Better than splicing into the factory wiring.

I agree, add a circuit is the way to go. I used it to direct wire my Starmate and Garmin. Make sure to get the right size, there are three different sizes. You have to locate a ground, I recommend right behind the kick panel.
