Been a long time lurker on here thru the years and I finally get to pull the trigger on my Tacoma. Just with the kids growing up it was hard with hunting and fishing so I needed a diesel. Well now its just the wife and I and we are going to start traveling. If your looking to get rid of your or on the fence now I will be ready mid January. I'm in AZ but will travel any state touching AZ. I'm not here to offend anyone, if your truck isn't for me I'm sorry, just what are my preferences, shoot me a PM. I wont revel any details.

    Looking for 22-23
    Mileage under 15K
    4x4
    Tech and Prem Package
White, grey, Lunar, any lighter color. I hunt alot and in AZ desert pinstripes are brutal.
    Kings is a plus

Well thanks guys and look forward to building a sweet truck

Search Autotrader when you are ready and get a Certified pre-owned from a Toyota dealer. You get a 100k mile powertrain warranty going CPO.

Welcome, you didn’t add how much you’re looking to spend. Also have you looked at the 3G for sale section? Several late model trucks go for sale often there.

Why 15K, and not 25K or 35K, etc..? A few thousand miles isn’t going to make any difference on a newish Toyota, except you might save a couple grand on a truck with 10K more, but is just as reliable and nice. We’re talking about trucks designed to go 200-300K+ here. And why not a ‘20 or ‘21 OR? There’s nothing different about them compared to a ‘22 or ‘23 except for a few color options (‘21 was the last year for cement grey, and ‘20 for Quicksand). IMO, you’re limiting your search to a few things that make no significant difference, and there aren’t nearly as many used trucks (and way fewer deals) that are only a few months to a year old.

OP stated why he wants the colors he listed (pinstripes on hunting trails), With that said, I agree with your overall point, especially regarding the mileage….As someone who purchased a truck in a color that was not high my preference list, I totally understand the requisite for listing color preferences though.

I know you say "next year", but while Big Two Toyota was doing minor service on my 2022 I walked the lot ... more than a dozen new available with just "window tint and door edge guard" as add-ons ... no markup like some are doing.

Regardless, good choice, in my opinion.

You would probably be better off buying a new one now, while they are still available. Resale on used '23s will probably jump due to the '24 price increase.

Could go either way, they are still going to become the “old model”…either way buying any low mileage (or high mileage for that matter) Tacoma used these days makes little sense unless you get a good deal. The resale value is so high on them, with the preferences the OP mentioned they could probably buy new for a couple grand more

The market has slowed,,,,, a bit, but inventory is still moving quickly. You’re smart to do your research, but know what’s here today and priced right, won’t be here tomorrow.

Might wanna keep the diesel for the long trips. You may be disappointed with the mpg vs size of the tuck...

Yes I see our third gens as holding higher resale values for a long time.

Taking a look at 2nd gen resale value, damm strong. Worth every penny too because they are damm good.

10year old 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 in fair condition with over 100k miles here in California, looking at about $20k. MSRP was about $30k back in 2013. That is some damm good resale value.

I just bought my first 3rd gen.

This is an idea of what the market is in Hawaii right now keep in mind Toyotas especially Tacoma are the most popular.
It was difficult to find a 4wd, dc, short bed clean title 2019-2023's either private party or at dealers. Private party was priced basically at MSRP. The dealers had very little inventory and in colors I don't prefer (blues, reds, white).
Mostly all priced $40-$45k mileage didn't seem to matter lol. It was difficult to get anyone to come down in price even with cash

Can you explain to me why Arizona (Phoenix/Scottsdale) pin stripes are brutal? I've been to Arizona and as well as seen plenty of videos to know that there is a lack of vegetation in the desert, thus a lack of pin stripes.

The comment about needing a diesel for hunting and fishing was curious too.
