Feather Weights both of them. Times they are a changing! Montana isn't the only place that has rocks on the road! Beautiful state though. Been to Colorado, Utah, Wyoming just seen pics of Montana. I can say it has to be one of the best. Been checking this out lately.

I'm not saying this makes a difference, but whenever I get glass replaced, I always request Pilkington brand. Most glass techs that I've talked to, says that Pilkington is OE quality, where other brands can be Chinese garbage.

Safelite put a windshield in my wife's Solara before she bought it, and there is a spot that is "wavy". Cheap glass!

Mine got hit by a rock a few months ago. I heard it hit. It didn’t crack until the next day. You had to look close to see the chip from the impact. It was probably .060”. That was the OEM glass. Which if you search, you will find threads claiming it is weak as well.

You can always call your insurance and change your glass deductible. Obviously that doesn’t help OP on this windshield, but it may in the future.

Why are you posting this in the 3rd gen section then? We figured you were talking about the 2018 in your profile. 1st gen windshields are known to rust out quickly

I had a chip so I got safelite to fill it. Next morning, I go to the truck and the chip had split into a large crack.
I think the filling compound expanded as it cured and made the chip split and crack. Had to replace the windshield. That was a fun way to spend $500.
    Thanks Safelite

also, cmon guys, that was obvious sarcasm from @RX1cobra

Correct... Pilkington makes the glass for Toyota (and most other car companies)... but they also sell non-Toyota branded windshields as replacements.

I would assume that if you order a windshield through the dealer, it would be Toyota branded and WAY more expensive. Most insurance companies will not cover OEM glass.

Don't forget that some people have more than 1 vehicle... Maybe OP has 2 trucks which means he has a 2000 Tacoma and 2018 Tacoma.

About the windshield rust... it won't rust if you keep your vehicle(s) taken care of. If so, you are set. If not, it will rust over the time.
