I have been looking for a new Tacoma. I would buy new but I am blacklisted by Toyota and up in Canada we just got hit with a huge price increase. So i have been looking at used, but they are priced at more than new. i did come across a 2021 lease take over with the following work done on it. what would be a fair value for the work that has been done. The previous owner did not do the work himself and paid a shop tp do it. He says he has all the receipts and the total 35K CDN.

    Parts List:
Elka 2.5 DC Reservoir Front Coil-Overs and Rear Shocks Extended Travel

Aftermarket parts and work aren’t worth a thing in the resale world, so it’s worth what the book says.

i can’t believe, even for a second, someone would throw all that shit on a leased vehicle.

Do you want a built truck? Do you off-road?

I tend to stay clear of vehicles that have been heavily modified. Why would he be selling it when it’s so new and he spent so much on it?

IF you like the add on, depending on the age / wear of the item, maybe 30-50% of retail. Labor isn't your problem, it was his choice.

Or ask your insurance agent what the value of these items would look like if a payout was required.

What does 'blacklisted by Toyota' mean. You were a bad boy?

My guess is the original owner over extended himself. Leased a $30-40k vehicle, then added another $35k in mods. Since the vehicle was leased, I'm guessing the mods were bought on credit.

I bought a 22 Pro auto while I was waiting for my Pro 6MT. The 6MT allocation got canceled because they couldn’t make it because of parts shortages. Hated the auto. Sold it to a Toyota dealer. Voila I’m blacklisted

Leased the truck through his business. Sold out to his partner, kept the truck. I’m assuming the business paid for the mods.

I believe many newish vehicles will be appearing on the used market sooner than normal. Due to people making poor purchasing decisions, surprise life changes, and not being able to handle the payments any more.

True. But also right now the price on used is high. More than new in some cases. In Canada Toyota just raised the msrp on tacomas about 2k-3k 2 days ago

If you plan on buying lease out, no difference in modding a purchase. Which it sounds like the did. Main reason it (guessing) original owner leased, business vehicle. Some better tax breaks. I business leased mine, and then bought it out.

A lot of mod actually devalue the truck, though
