We bought a 3/4" thick stall mat at Coop supply and trimmed it to fit my 2nd gen short bed. The trimmed piece fit in the back corners to make for a good fit. it is HEAVY though...

I don't remember exactly but I think about $50-$60. They have different sizes and the one I got was a little long and wide so I had to keep one edge straight and trimmed around the wheel well on the other side and then trimmed off the end at the tail gate and used those pieces to fill around the wheel well on the side I left straight. I am not kidding about the weight either, it has to weigh upwards of 50 pounds of awkwardness and will make the back of your truck smell like a tire store for awhile but it will protect the bed of your truck and keep stuff from sliding around all while not absorbing water. They come with round traction bumps on one side but I just flipped it over and use the smooth side up.

Just keep an eye out for used mats. They come up pretty often for cheap. I think I got mine for 40 bucks? Remember 2nd gen mats fit ours too.
