    hello Everyone,

I just recently purchased a new 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road and absolutely love it. How ever I do need to buy a tonneau cover since it didn’t come with one. Any one have a suggest for one or anyone that lives in MA or Nh know of any local area? I have a 5 ft bed and would like a tri fold that’ll keep my items safe. I Live near Westminster.

    Thank you

A lot of guys will suggest you locate an OEM cover. Good choice, no doubt.

I have a long bed and don't believe that an OEM/Toyota cover is available for that, so got an Extang, it's what I had on my '11 Tundra and that truck never saw the inside of a garage, so the cover was exposed to Montana weather (hot in the summer, cold in the winter, fairly harsh climate) for 6 years and was still in excellent condition, ought to serve the next owner for at least another 6 if not more. So I got another one for the Tacoma and it's great.

Edit: There is an entire thread category on this down in Tacoma Garage, that might be a good place to search for opinions/options, it's been covered pretty extensively down there.

I have an ExTang Solid Fold 2.0 and it leaks. If you buy the ExTang 2.0, expect whatever you have in the bed of the truck to get wet when it rains.

Regarding leakage of the Extang 2.0, the one I had on the Tundra would leak a very small amount of water, like maybe 1/3 cup total, if it sat in the rain for a couple of days. Part of that might have been 'operator error' as I don't think I always had it perfectly positioned on the bed. I haven't had the Tacoma long enough to see how it does, but the attachment system appears to be more precise than the Tundra's was. I used to take it on and off a couple of times a year.

If you go for the OEM, make sure you get the mounting hardware with it. Good luck

Thank you for al the suggestion and the craigslist post. Only issue with the craigslist post is he’ll have to ship it across country Which will probably cost an arm and a leg. Have yo uguys heard anything good about the Tiger Tonneau brand? Hey advertise about how much snow it can hold etc. Living in New England I’ll definitely need something that can handle the weather as well as be a water proof or resistant.

If you can find the mounting hardware, I know a guy with the factory cover.

Where are you located OP. I'd give you hardware too, in exchange for your non-cut bed rails

edit: I read New England. Well if you ever make your way to Charlotte, HMU

Underworld Flex trifold, tinted, TRDPRO grill, TRDPRO shift knob, etc,etc
I have an Undercover Flex trifold cover and to me It looks better than oem because it fits flush with bed vs over bed like oem (my preference) but you loose the bed rail oem tie hooks as it uses the rail for mount.
Its not 100% water tight, more like 90%, I don't think any trifold is and if you want 100% I recommend the single lift top type.
Also before purchase or install, check installation requirements as some will drill holes in your bed, and you can avoid that by using a hose adapter and using the (smaller) drain hole already in bed.

    Hope that helps!
    Cheers!

Snow is no issue. I had a soft tonneau on that winter we got 14 feet of snow and had no issues.

Read reviews and pick the one you like.

No, what I meant was that the oem bed cover uses mounts that lock into bed sides, but you have to dremel your bed rails. I would give you these cut bed rails, if say you bought it, in exchange for your non cut ones. But it doesnt matter now lol

I bought the American Tonneau cover brand. $250. easy installation and not a single leak. I never even put the tailgate seal in like youre supposed to.
