Have a 2017 access cab would like to cover the bed without compromiseing the bed rail system. Preferably secure, dent and fade resistant any and all input on this would be appreciated.I have never had a tonneau cover before.

Post after you get it installed. I'm curious to see if you uninstall factory slide rails then use Bak rails, and end up with unused factory rails.

If that's the case it's going back...I don't want to rip apart a brand new truck. Realtruck has a few instal videos I forget which one used a new Tacoma and the clamps slid in the rails. It was a high gloss cover and I was looking for matte

This is what I was able to find out. The factory sliding tiedown track comes off. MX4 hardware goes on. The factory track mounts back onto the MX4 hardware. This makes the track slightly lower but fully functional. This relieves all my concerns hope it helps yours.

    Working on it.
I am using an extant trifold 2.0 and it allows for rail utilization. I was having leaking issues when it was first installed but after taking the time to ensure it is properly aligned it has worked very well with no/minimal leaking. I have not experienced any leaking but no tonneau is leak proof in all circumstances. Also the warmer weather helped by softening the gaskets and allowing them to create a better seal.

I have the Elite G4 by Foldacover and it utilizes the rail, but you still have access to it for the tie downs but it does limit it some.
