I currently have a A.R.E Z series topper for my DCSB tacoma. I am looking at getting into something a little lighter. I prefer fiberglass one. Maybe a Leer. This topper is heavy as shit. I hate having to have someone help me take it off. Those with basic topper like bare bone ones can you take them off by yourself? Thanks

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I have always been able to put mine on/off by myself --buuut here's the reason why. I have a garage with open (exposed) rafters. I loop tiedown straps over the rafters and put 2 specially designed 2x4s with eye bolts (on each end) under the topper (I lift it with my back to get the 2x4s under the topper). Then I back into the garage and hook the eyebolts to the straps on the end of the 2x4s--lift it a bit , then drive out from under it and go back in the garage and gradually pull it up -one strap at a time. Don't laugh - I have been doing it this way for the last 15 years (with my extra tall F150 topper) and plan to do it the same way with my new Leer on my Taco. I will need to modify the 2x4s for the new Leer. I realize this way is dependant on having something to tie the topper to --but thought I would add "my way".
