Craigslist or ad section of the paper. They turn up quite often, but almost never in the right color. If you have to pay to get it painted you don't have a bargain. Another possibility is simply ask at dealerships. They can sell a used truck for the same price, and quicker if it doesn't have a cap on it. Sometimes they take them off and store them behind the building. If you see a used truck on a lot with a shell that will fit your truck and match the color it doesn't hurt a thing to offer them $$$ for just the cap. They might just sell it to you.

I wouldn't waste my money on a soft top.

Can confirm. I got my camper shell off CL for $400 and then paid $300 to color match it and it’s a $2500 shell. Just keep an eye out on CL and use the app so you can have multiple search areas within a reasonable driving distance.

What are these buildings? I've not see something like these before and am not familiar.

They appear to be cabins for “camping”. Simple concept and if facing north northwest, snow shouldn’t accumulate much. Even if it does, having only one angle would be easy to get the snow off the roof.

I drove about 3.5 hours to get mine, from NY->VT. It’s a Leer 100R, sliding side windows, flip down front slider/window, double locks on the back, carpet headliner. Paid $500 for it, it’s white. My truck is silver.

When I rolled into the parking lot of the body shop that sold it to me, the owner laughed at my silver truck but didn’t say why. When I emailed Leer to get specs on the cap, they told me it was originally silver.

What is your location and what bed? I have a Speedway blue topper I’m contemplating on selling. It’s same style as Goldnrod’s. Mine’s for shortbed.

I just picked up a used shell a couple of weeks ago. Got tired of constantly scouring the classifieds using the all the keyword searches: topper, shell, camper, etc. etc. So I just started looking for used Tacomas that had shells, to see if the owners would be willing to just sell the shell by itself. Sure enough after about 15 min of searching I found a color-matched shell and had it on the my truck about an hour later.
