If your max is 16k you can pretty much quit looking at anything after 2010.

Yes, you are too picky.... That truck is a cream-puff for $16000-
The interior could use a good wipe down for sure.
A manual transmission traditionally gets better gas mileage than an auto.

If I could, I would increase my max. I'm ok with 2010 or older, just gotta keep weeding through craigslist. I just don't want to take out too big of a car loan, even if I can afford it.

Forgot to add that it's a 6 speed manual. The price is OBO so hit me up with an offer.

Dang that’s a good deal and a nice truck! What part of the country did you pick it up in?

Indiana, it was pretty crazy. Just a 15 minute drive for me. I'm still a little in shock at how it worked out. Found it on carfax on my first day of searching and talked the dealer down from 12,950.

You’re gonna need to expand your search area. I’m live in PA and was looking at Tacoma’s in Colorado. You might have to up your budget as well, depending upon what year 2nd gen. The manuals are stupid rare, believe me. Took me 8 months to find one.
A dealer I called in NH specifically only really buys the 6 speeds, and ships them to buyers all over the US. They understood the rarity of the manuals.

If you're not picky on color, I'm sure it's possible, but you'll want to consider expanding your search area. The other thing is just to be patient and check out the vehicle thoroughly of course. I'm in Hawaii and I flew to another island to check trucks before deciding on mines. Eats into the budget a bit, but it's worth it. Good luck with your search.

The same shit everyone else has.
Took me almost a year to find an access cab v6 6 speed TRD truck with lower mileage in my price range.

They’re out there. When they pop up for sale, they move quick. If you hesitate, you miss em.

Been keeping an eye on this one... This guy has reposted this ad at least once too. Something must be wrong cuz from the ad it looks like a really good deal.

It took me almost 2 years to find a 6 speed with what I wanted. Had to settle on a color I didn't want but the price was good and it happened to be only 100 miles away.

With an electric fan and TRD intake, I have yet to hit 18mpg with mine, although I also haven't done a long trip where I've used a full tank on pure highway cruising. If you wanna tell me that'll bump me up 40% though, I'd like some of what you're smoking!

I don't remember the exact pre-tax/tags price on my '11, but I think it was right around $16k, OTD was $17k so it's about right. 130k, but in actual creampuff condition. That was in VA, but it's as rust-free as anything I've seen on the east coast, and while they might not be as in demand as the southwest, the Tacoma marketplace around here ain't cheap. Although I can't say I've seen anyone asking more for a 1st gen than I paid for this one... those couple OR craigslist 1st gens are out their damn minds.

So trying to revive an old thread... I've since increased my cap by a couple of thousand and am still in search of the perfect truck. Figure if I pay a little more on sticker, then I can rest my worries of buying a lemon or whatever.
However, I recently found a 2015 TRD OR for $20k but the only problem is it has 100k miles. The other issue is apparently it used to be a "fleet vehicle". 25k miles a year. That is excessive, but I will probably only put 8k a year on it from here on out. Do I take a look? Or pass because I will have to replace so much so soon.

Edit: This is the truck I am talking about.

Price range is healthy but you may have trouble getting one that is under 160k unless its a very early model.

Should I stay away from the fleet vehicle truck I found this week then? For 4 years old it is high mileage.
