A friend gave me a new in the box weathertech bug deflector for my '14 Tacoma Spory and I'm looking at the instructions, they are pretty generic.

Regarding the 3m strips that come in the kit..... do you split the width of the strip and wrap it evenly over and under the edge of the hood? Seems to me that the lumpy looking painted seal under the edge of the hood wouldn't allow the strip to adhere properly and peel at some point.

The instructions talk about a long 3m strip in the center of the hood and 2 small strips on the sides. My kit has 2 long strips and one that's slightly smaller. Am I supposed to cut one strip to make the two smaller ones for the sides?

Next they instruct me to install a 3m strip on the grille shell. Am I supposed to install this thing in plain sight and overlap it a half inch or so? I think that will look like heck.

Does the deflector clear the grille shell or does it hit?

It should screw on under the front ofthe hood and the sticky pads are to protect the hood from the deflector getting into it at speed, just cut them to fit and they shouldnt be showing they should be behind the deflector

While I agree with you on that part, what about the direction that says to put a strip on the grill shell. That would be right out in the open. You can’t teally stuff it down over the back of the grill shell because there’s a rubber hood gasket there.

Is the 3m streatchy enough to conform to the lumpiness under the lip of the hood? My concern is that it won’t conform and will be centrally cone loose and peel.
