    thanks for all of the great feedback people! from what i understand, it will tow it without major issue..i'll feel it, and will need to brake accordingly (common sense, regardless of engine size, if you ask me), and i'll have garbage mileage.

    You don't have brakes on your trailer? Are you sure? Surge brakes perhaps? 3500lbs of weight that is not on your axles is going to diminish your braking ability substantially. The truck is only ~4600 lbs. It doesn't sound like a winning strategy.

    Or any towing experience if you load up enough weight compared to the truck's ability. I've seen plenty of 18 wheelers struggling to accelerate.

    I have an 18' fiberglass i/o and it tows effortlessly. Have you actually weighed the boat and trailer ?? Tow in S mode.
