Weight is a big factor in fuel economy when it comes to tires. Buy a C load brand X tire. Then buy an E load of same brand X tire. Run them both and then come back and tell me you got the exact same gas mileage.

I have no complaints on my Toyo Open Country's. Pretty quiet and look great. I also had the Falcons and those might have been a bit quieter. I'm getting 13.5-14.5 mpg.

For your needs in Alaska read up on the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. There is a huge thread here and a member who ran them for two winters up in Alaska. I just installed mine so I can’t give a good real life review yet. It’s not as aggressive looking as some other AT tires but the performance is suppose to be great.

I have 2 favorites that our my go-to's but I also drive exclusively hwy miles year round: Michelin LTX AT/2 and Firestone Destination AT. They are great all around truck tires and have good traction on wet and snowy roads and get pretty good consistent mpg. Everybody has their own favorites and have had good and bad luck with all brands so you will get many opinions and recommendations.

“Falcon Wild Beaks” 265/75/R16 only 44 pounds in the SL. Will be my next purchase. I’ve got a friend running these and he loves them. The cost is also a big plus.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I did, I gained a little over 1 mpg going to a C in the same tire from an E. Good but not spectacular

Another vote for Falkens - affordable, decent offroad, great on snowy roads, quiet. I havent tried the new 4S version from Cooper - is it really that great of a winter tire? I found the regular discoverer to be quite poor in snow. Glad to hear if they have improved winter performance.

The 4S is night and day difference in winter compared to the old AT3. The Falkens are good in winter but are really heavy compared to the AT3 4S and much louder. The Falkens will wear a little longer though. I would only get the Falkens over the Coopers if you like the way they look more.

With the AT3s i had to put it in 4wd to back in to my parking space if there was more than 3" of snow. And that slope was an incline of maybe 5 degrees!
